    I think the only reason the ball could have been advanced is that a Seahawk touched it in the way forward

        I looked it up, the rule is 4th down or within the 2 minute warning, but this was just outside of that. When it happened, the ref made an announcement that it had touched a Seahawk but I guess he didn’t check the clock, either.

          That. And it would have been illegal, if he kicked the ball forward intentionally:

          Item 4. Fumbled or Muffed Ball Goes Forward. The fact that a fumbled or muffed ball goes forward is disregarded, unless the act is ruled intentional. If it is intentional, a fumbled ball that goes forward is a forward pass (8-1-1), and a muff is a bat (12-5-1).

          But that wasn’t the case either.
