    I’m sure that doesn’t help, but it also sounds like there are quite some issues on the Honda side too. And not just with their incompetence but working culture, expectations and so on. In the end though it was idiotic to abandon the Merc engine, but Lawrence Stroll just couldn’t resist a shiny new toy and the idea of being a works team.

      Honda disbanded their engine team with the exception of a few mechanics that assemble existing designs for Red Bull and then a year too late Lawrence Stoll contracted a disbanded team to design and build a championship winning engine.

      That’s impossible and only the fault of the one who contracted them at an insanely stupid time.

      Of course Honda is taking the money. They’re not investing anything. They are being paid.

        Although that mostly sounds plausible (I don’t know much about it myself): there is reputational risk for Honda, so it’s not quite nothing.
