The best I’ve explained it is first and foremost you need to understand and appreciate we are a deeply flawed creature and there’s a beauty in that. How could someone not love life for that? I am in a dingy alley having a tea right now I can smell garbage, I can hear the drone of the city around me, everything is stained. But if I look up the sky is beautiful and blue, cute girls are walking by, someone is smoking a flavoured cigar.

If you’re unwilling to appreciate it all, you will struggle on appreciating any of it. Happiness is what you make of the world around you and if you are not willing to be happy inside no external event will change that.

To expand on this. If you are talking about anything online it is not private. That doesn’t matter if it’s in a WhatsApp chat, a telegram chat, a Lemmy post, a Facebook feed, etc. as soon as it hits a computer if someone wants to see it they will. There’s just hurdles to get it.

If you want anonymity stop using computers.

Learning SQL on an enterprise database is what started my journey into coding. It really forces you to think about what you’re doing because of how structured the language is. It’s also very immediate in that you do x and you get y.

It also makes you think more about data models which I’d argue is why we ended up with the garbage that is MongoDB. Developers not thinking about their data and how it relates enough.

For anyone with their rankles up. 99.9999999% of the time you want an RMDBS. That remaining 0.00000001% you want NoSQL. So any project you spin up? Guess what? You want an RMDBS.

It’s strongly typed and structured and for people new to programming it helps enable the change in mindset.

The devil is obviously in the details but SQL is still so pervasive I’d never not recommend it.
