finally. i’ve been waiting for this for a long time. finally a worthwhile software development project again.

France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands will work to develop open, European alternatives in “key areas” such as AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and – curiously – social networks.

especially social networks are important, as it allows people to connect and exchange messages outside of the influence of US big biased algorithms.

Tbf i’ve thought multiple times in my life that it had been better if i had grown up with my aunt while my mother was working all day. essentially what’s described in the article. “being with my mother” (i.e. sitting at home alone) while she was working till late in the evening had no personal value for me. when she came home, she was too tired to do anything.

it’s important to stress that rails only work in densely populated areas. it’s very economically stupid to build railways in thinly populated areas. unfortunately, i see way too many idiots advocating that public transport be built everywhere, which smears the reputation of the whole public transport system, because it is then perceived as economically stupid and inefficient. public transport needs to focus on the cities and inter-city rail.

The thing that you’re missing is that christianity is a pretty brutal, cold-hearted thing. It was never meant to be about compassion and love. That’s just what they tell the children sothat they get onboard with it all.

It’s like, when you’re teaching maths to children and you present fractions using apples and pies, pretty harmless things. Years later, you can use more advanced maths (that are based on the basics of maths) to engineer weapons and heavy machinery, and it’s all based on the same maths. It’s not about being cute, it’s about maths, it’s more abstract than any of the applications.

Nah all myths are abstract descriptions of systems and processes. They were never meant to be detailed.

The real madness is not updating these myths to today’s standards and taking everything that was written literally thousands of years ago as inarguably correct.
