Current economies are basically dependent on a growing population to support the elderly and retired members of the population.
This applies only when labour is in short supply. Japan and Germany have heavily automated their industry for this reason, and China seems to be on this track.
Apart from the labour shortage, a gradually declining population is a good thing. The earth can only give us so many resources, and unless we reduce our numbers - particularly among the rich - we are headed towards extinction.
A gradual decline in population is a good thing, so they probably don’t want to overshoot too much. Also maybe the minorities pushed for keeping some restrictions.
Yes, because tomorrow you may face the same bug.
Not sure about this particular textbook, but ours did explain what open-source is. So I’m guessing it might have been covered in a previous chapter.
The problem is that India has many local languages. So you need one language, equally foreign to everyone (so no one has an unfair advantage) for things like federal laws, national-level competitive exams and inter-state communication (each state is, in theory, composed of the people speaking one language). English conveniently fits that bill.
We almost had civil war in the 1960s over this. The compromise was that (1) India has no national language, (2) all federal documents would be in both English and Hindi (the biggest Indian language) and (3) all schools must teach any three languages, including English.
It was Kyoto Animation that was attacked. They have quite a few similarities in artstyle and themes to Ghibli, and you could maybe call them a spiritual successor. But neither is owned by, or a part of, the other.
Ghibli recently released How Do You Live, probably their last film. With the last surviving founders retiring, Nippon TV will manage the studio and the museum.
I can’t believe someone actually burned down Studio Ghibli HQ before Citizen’s United was.
Do you mean Kyoto Animation?
Something like WhatsApp >> Youtube > Instagram > TikTok > Telegram > Facebook > Reddit > Twitter, with some variations and local additions from country to country.
There is an institute of virology in Wuhan, but it is most likely that Covid-19 spread naturally from bats to humans.
Bat coronaviruses are common in the South China - Thailand - Myanmar region, and viruses jump host species all the time.
Labs that handle human pathogens are maintained under very high security. The one in Wuhan is BSL4, the highest security rating, and had prior experience handling coronaviruses. Also, the viruses themselves would be marked with radioactive isotopes. Even if they somehow got out of the building, it would be possible to find and quarantine all those exposed to it.
If it was released on purpose, then we can narrow the list of suspects down to the countries that can reliably make bioweapons and antidotes with close to 100% certainty. That’s the US, China and maybe Russia. The US and Russia were among the worst affected, and China wouldn’t have released the virus in China.
So the most likely explanation is that it is a bat virus that jumped hosts.
Domains aren’t sold, they are leased for a period of time. In this case the lease was for ten years and is lapsing now.
Don’t you need to be a citizen of a CIS nation to get a .su domain?
I don’t think the email thing is connected to this. That just happened at roughly the same time.
I get a little over 10 dollars a day. Also, while my country has an excellent, free system for internal financial transactions, any international transaction will be (a) complicated and (b) expensive.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t pay USD1USD0 for a website, but I sure wouldn’t do it for a hobby one.
.ml is just Mali’s country domain. Maybe your workplace should get a better filter?
lemmy.ml was a sort of prototype made by the devs of the lemmy software. It wasn’t really meant for widespread public adoption. So it makes sense that they went with a free domain.
I mean, the .ml domain belongs to Mali and they have every right to take it back.
You should not watch Indian news channels then.
