The or part in that statement is really what kills you, as you sort of imply. You spend five hours almost getting your scanner to work, some times, unreliably.
That’s a worse outcome than the scanner refusing to work entirely in many cases.

This is one of the hardest earned lessons I’ve ever learned, and I’ve had to learn it over and over again. I think it’s mostly stuck now but I still make the same mistake from time to time.
As in efficient per watt or some other metric?
What the hell is Denuvo?
Can it search email now? I tried finding an email about two weeks ago and i had to give up and search on my phone.
If you sign up with your email address, yep!
I thought it will be released but it isn’t released yet right?
If they’d made their OS anywhere near reasonably constructed antivirus would be mostly snake oil and nobody would be in trouble. The trouble starts when antivirus software is necessary, at which point third-party antivirus software sort of has to be an option and then you’ve got this mess.
The mouse controls must be atrocious on a console
You do know that the threat of nuclear war is still being discussed right?
Our 20 months old definitely does not sleep a full night on her own for the record. She doesn’t feed but she does wake up screaming and refuse to go back to sleep unaided. She also sleeps at most 10 hours, usually about 9.
No need to be that maximalist. Don’t self host email on a desktop machine you turn off.
Someone described open source as the commons of capital and I guess that’s not entirely incorrect. The availability of boring things like server operating systems, encryption libraries, etc, cheapens many commodities to the point where they are viable because people can afford them. Imagine the price of whatever IoT trinket is in vogue if the maker had to roll every software it touches from scratch.
Oh oh!!! I had the same experience but with an AMAZING anticlimax. So when the game came out it was only available for purchase in a localised version, with a horrible Swedish dub.
For context, Sweden has an official policy of not dubbing essentially anything for anyone over maybe seven years old. No other game I know of was translated even (except the sims), and certainly not dubbed. We made fun of how terrible and corny that version was for years. It sounded like morning cartoons for babies, probably because the same cast who did Sailor Moon and Pokémon did it.
I’ve never played the real version, and only sparingly played the horrific dub because the family computer wasn’t good enough.
It’s decently reliable but it does log things I wouldn’t call sleep as sleep during the night
I’ve noticed that a lot lately
I’m not sure what I just witnessed but boy howdy did I not see the Bond villain lair stuff coming from checks notes “daddy’s little slut”
I should have expected the rug-pull at the end when I read:
You may know me as a Bitcoin educator and engineer
However, I was still surprised!
I figured that’s what you meant but I don’t think remote schooling is a good solution to that problem, unless the plan is to never be anywhere there are crowds since those are also a target for shooters.
However I do feel for you. I’ve more or less ruled out the US as a place to do a postdoc for among others this reason (the others being difficult to bring my dog, terrible access to childcare and healthcare and just generally the entire social welfare system being a nightmare). I’m much less worried about actual violence than I am about trauma from exposure to drills though.
It’s even worse than what you suggest.
Try finding:
These are regular requirements for office work that I’ve had trouble with.
Oh and I also routinely have trouble turning off my computer, it just freezes at a black screen. This is a stationary computer with nothing weird in it.
