LordCrom@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Might be a bit of a tangent: use SIP at home via internetEnglish7·1 month agoI use this.
I have Ms VoIP as my provider. $1 month per line and 1 cent per min.
I have a grand stream sip adapter… Configured with my providers info and my creds. Phone can plug into it. Works just fine. Plus you can use any sip client to connect to the same line from mobile or PC.
Also, my old house had pots lines in every room. I took my grand stream and wired it into the house, not a phone. So I can plug regular phones into any of the original outlets and it works as it directly connected to the grand stream. I have 4 regular phones all running over original wires into the grandstream using sip

I am amazed at services offered that run rampant in the home.
My ISP offers fiber. But only if you also sign up for managed wifi where they manage your internal net…no way
I got a quote for solar power…but they must use a 3rd party cloud to manage your power and it uses eth over electrical … If you use eth over electrical already, then it does whatever it wants in your home network …no way.
Cell phones? They all go into a guest wifi…not on my home network.
Who down voted this? People who want women working no matter what? Maybe they will allow an extra hour at lunch to go have the babay, as long as the hour is docked from the paycheck?

LordCrom@lemmy.worldto [MIGRATED TO DIFFERENT INSTANCE CHECK PIN POST] Internet is Beautiful@lemm.ee•The internet used to feel like a treasure hunt. Let’s bring that back.2·5 months agoThat’s what I missed most. Links to other sites.
I used to run a page for Robert E Howard, Conan author, way back in the day. I got to know others that shared an interest…we were our own small community. It was fun. I would link to stuff that was related, including music that I liked when reading. I would have these bands email me back about how they appreciated the link. It was great.
Then Google and Facebook started the end to all that

The klansman mask is on purpose because it hides the face. If you went out in public with an explicit image of a guy with a Nazi buzzcut getting his brains blown out, it would probably trigger some local law about public graphic images. This probably skirts the line, but is a ‘cartoon caricature’ so is still ok to wear out.
IANAL

LordCrom@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•How could digitial age verification be possibly implemented with privacy in mind?1·7 months agoTo be certain the list isn’t being handed out willy nilly, your id must be scanned, that will be kept for auditing purposes. If only 10 guids can be given at a time, this is the only way, plus it identifies ids used too often.
And I can guarantee any powers that bee will turn this into a service like stupid id.me where you create an account for guid access
