About the connection to the internet… Eh I’ve got no idea. But if your home starts the dishwasher when the pv delivers enough power or the battery is full then it’s useful. That doesn’t need to be public to the internet or an connection to the outside. Just an open API.

Jup there is no question (for me) what is more secure in the long run. And that’s the important question when choosing home automation equipment. In my opinion. Of course wifi/ZigBee etc is easier to setup (if you don’t build the house from scratch)

No radio signal/standard/encryption will stay secure in the future. Use a cable whenever possible.
