Been over a decade since I played Sacred 2 on XBox 360, so I thought I’d play through it again since I remember having much fun last time. Got Gold edition on Steam and the community patch so it doesn’t crash due to memory leaks lol

Doing a simple BeeEffGee build, so Revered Technology is my main aspect, with some put into Exalted Warrior.

Loving the fantasy tech magic theme, with T Energy pipes everywhere, environmental issues due to them bursting, all the animals and npcs that make the towns feel like places people actually live.

So much to do and find, it really is a great game and I highly recommend it if you’re into this kind of RPG. Take note, though, that most quests are “go there and kill monster”, “find artifact and bring it back”, “kill that monster”, “find that artifact” and so on, so if you’re not down with that kind of questing maybe give it a miss.

When I’m done, I’m gonna go back and play Sacred as I’ve never touched it.

Here’s my Seraphim currently, she’s looking pretty sick as

I got the “remaster” a few months ago and it’s okay. Doesn’t beat the original with community patch. And the controller support, the reason I got it, is kind of shit.

Yeah I haven’t heard kind things about the remaster sadly, I was looking at it for the controller support but I was gifted Sacred Gold and Sacred 2 Gold a number of years ago so I figured I’d play what I have.

Gold is good, especially with the community patch, but the control scheme does take a little getting used to.

I just, fucking finally, got the mail from Valve to pay for my reserved steam controller (did my reservation on the first day) so will probably have it in a week or so. And one thing I’m excited about is figuring out a good Sacred 2 config, either by myself or see if there’s already a good one.
I only played ~20 hours of the game some years back but had to stop because KB/M just doesn’t work with my back issues, no matter what I try.
I’m so ridiculously excited for this controllers! Was a huge fan of the original, no matter its flaws, and this new one just seems like they went above and beyond in what I dreamed of. So many games that I hope to be able to play that don’t have (any or good) controller support that now seem like most will be doable.

Wow, what an idea. I still have the original game boxes with the CDs inside. Sacred 1 and 2. Wonder how it will hold up. Thanks for suggesting this.

Aw that’s actually awesome af!! I think I still have my 360 copy of 2 somewhere on the shelf but playing on PC is certainly a learning experience; I had to write down some of the keybindings to help me remember (not me pressing J for the quest page, when it’s L for logbook 🤦‍♀️)

Post some of your progress if you do play them again, and check out Sacred: Last Pixel of Ancaria, it has some of the OG devs involved and looks rad AF (Blind Guardian are coming back! 🙌).

Never played Sacred 2, but spent my entire childhood on Sacred 1. A huge game with tons of places to explore, a lot of easter eggs, but most importantly, it’s one of the few Diablo-esque games that isn’t afraid of showing a colorful world with tons of personality and humor. Diablo and all its clones are always so drab and bloody and run-down and make me feel exhausted after a few hours. Sacred on the other hand was like a themed park - Hey, that island looks cool! Let’s see if I can reach it. Oh, hey, there’s a fun quest on it! Oh, I got sunglasses out of it! :D

Alright, I’m sold on playing 1 now lol.

Sacred 2 keeps the same feel, from what you’ve described. Easter eggs, always something to find in the world that sidetracks you completely lol, it’s colourful and vibrant. I adore how all the interiors in towns look lived in and used, there’s always people or animals wandering around, it feels alive.

Agreed about Diablo, though I still enjoy doing playtjroughs of 2 and 3 occasionally (the abilities look so cool lol), but it is so very dark and grim.

Sacred feels so fresh and inviting, and the humour really helps with the whole vibe.

Kinda keeping my eye on Sacred: Last Pixel of Ancaria. Different aesthetic (pixel instead of 3d models), but it seems to have the OG devs involved so I’m hoping its gonna be good (unlike that weird sacred 3 no one talks about it lol)

I can’t say the game has aged gracefully, but I replayed it a few years back and I had quite some fun exploring the world and finding all the nooks and crannies that I couldn’t find as a kid.

Btw, you also sold me on Sacred 2 lol
I had it in my wishlist for quite some time, but I never pulled the trigger. But knowing that it retains the colorful world of its predecessor, makes me quite interested indeed. It could be a fun time sink.

        Sacred: Last Pixel of Ancaria

The WHAT. I had no idea it even existed. Keeping my eyes close on that one! Thank you for letting me know!

I’ve seen some clips of 1, and honestly I don’t mind those graphics. The jank is part of the charm for me, and I really appreciate what could be done with tefhyback then so I don’t mind that.

If you do play 2 let me know what you think, i really love it and I don’t hear a lot of people discussing it.

I just found out about Last Pixel, like earlier this month lol, so I’m trying to spread the word to people who are familiar with the series. I’m highkey hyped, it looks so good already and Blind Guardian are returning (power metal band, featured prominently in early game of 2, big nerds) so that’s a massive pull for me as a big fan of theirs (because of 2 tbh).

I’m a bit two minds about Sacred 2, it is pretty fun ARPG and it sure doesn’t shy away from vibrant colors, but on the other: it feels like a simplistic MMO from which all other players have already left, you’re there alone to run vast distances to kill 10 red mountain beavers for someone, or fetch their family heirloom mcguffin or …

I dunno, I do like when games have a lot of content, but the content is just MMO-tropey.

That said, now I want to reinstall it again, maybe I’ll get a bit further.

I reckon that’s pretty accurate for the early game. However I personally don’t mind it, I like games where I don’t have to think too hard or pay attention, something to chill out with. I also like repetition and repetitive tasks so MMOs and similar are really my jam. It certainly isn’t for everyone, but there is something addictive about it to me.

Thanks for posting this recommendation! I’ve never heard of this title (or series) before, and I’ve been trying to find something new to play lately.

And thankfully it is sitting at gold rating on ProtonDB!

No worries! I hear Sacred 1 is really great, I’m gonna play that when I’m done with 2.

Let me know what you think if you do play it! I don’t hear many people talking about it, for some legit reasons, but there is so much to love and enjoy about it :)
