I think the joke is just “so organic that the birds use the cashier’s hair as a nest”
Well, considering the cashier is sprouting shoots and leaves, I think it’s more than that.
Like maybe, organic and natural food = cashier turning into a tree = birds nesting.
Which is some coke-fueled craziness.
Or Mother Nature as a grumpy, seen-it-all, no-fucks cashier lady?
Some of the best Far Side comics are completely incomprehensible. Cow Tools will never not make me laugh.
