Whiskerwood is slowing down its patch cycle as the team focus on a massive update, adding ship construction, naval combat, and island defences.

It sounds like the combat gameplay will be relatively limited. I’ve been meaning to try this (seems people whole like Timberborn often recommends and I have 200+ hours in Timberborn) and I hope they don’t go to far in the direction of combat gameplay.

It kinda hard to have a game about rebelling against your evil tyranical overlords without any combat though. Whiskerwood is also very much on my wishlist, but one of the things I struggle with in Timberborn is the lack of challenge after the initial discovery phase and the first struggle.

After an hour or two, I’ve solved the map, and the rest is just creative-mode-but-slow.

That’s fair. I guess I play these kind of game a little bit differently. I keep optimizing and redesigning everything while expanding. Eventually I get to large network of interconnected cities with their own specializations (although the capital tends to be by far the largest in terms of population), old issues get resolved, new, often more systematic and requiring much more planning and thought.
