Woke up from my nap and didn’t know what dinner was. I looked through the cabinet and found my emergency dal makhani and remembered I had some leftover rice from the fried rice.
This barely counts as cooking. But it is healthy and tasty. Also accidentally vegan.
Cost per person $2.00. I need to restock my emergency dal makhani.


I don’t know what this is but it looks good. Can you describe the flavor? I’d like to try it if it’s anything like Vindaloo or Marsala.
Dal makhani is black lentils and kidney beans in what is basically a chili type gravy sauce with coconut milk. This particular brand has some noticeable hint of bitter melon flavor. It’s got layers.
TBH I was mainly joking, above.
Still-- the flavor’s complex-as-hell, but I can tell you that it starts with sauteing “panch paran.”
