One of my first proper mega builds! It had a full interior and garden and more builds inside the walls.

Love the detail in this build!!! Castle are always one of my favorite builds in Minecraft, the game lends itself really well to building castles and I feel like you can make them look so good! Really nice job on this build!

Thanks! I agree for sure. I definitely think castles are one of the best things you can make. I always lean towards medieval fantasy style and always have to build a good castle. Not a huge fan of modern builds. The roof was the hardest part cause at first I used lapis blocks for it but then I realized that would take too long even though I traded with dozens of clerics. So I think I used concrete for the roof and maybe wool.

Fields is a common theme with you 🤣

Great work, though! What’s the castle layout like?

There are different floors on the inside with lots of rooms and hallways like a throne room, art gallary, TONS of armour stands. Had to grind for ages. But it was fun.

I’d love to see more! I’m building a castle and not really sure how to go about the throne room. I don’t want it to be too out of the way but also not extremely open and vulnerable

I have more pics of it on another PC. I am on my laptop right now. I might post them tomorrow. Well my throne room was quite open plan but I added pillars and archways. Also filled up the space with some fish tanks and chairs and tables. I wanted it to be more open because it was meant to be grand and overwhelming. More like the interior of a palace rather than a castle though the outside is more like a castle. Not sure how to explain it. Depends what type of castle you are making? Is it purely defensive? If so, then nothing wrong with having a smaller room maybe two or three chunks wide?

It’s supposed to be the administrative core of the settlement essentially. Secure, but not completely shut off

then I think it makes sense to have a decent size throne room, because they would need to have guests from the settlement to solve disputes and problems and messengers from other kingdoms. Maybe make some hallways and rooms? Norman castles liked to have the throne room at the top of the castle but others had it differently. Many castles were also living quarters so they would have things like bedrooms, servants quarters, barracks, kitchen, great hall (for feasting), library, even a blacksmith and place of worship etc.

Maybe I should design the throne room after the House of Lords. The castle is definitely supposed to be the main residence of The King. A chapel would be cool, but I don’t really like the idea of a private chapel and being apart from the peasantry, I have a Cathedral in the settlement as well. I wonder if I could build a new church though, maybe with a special balcony and an access passage from the castle.

well medieval people loved churches. Look at Cambridge. There are dozens of them. So cant go wrong with multiple ones. And traditionally the royalty would have their own services exclusively from commoners but of course your world does not have to adhere to those rules. And if you already have a cathedral then it makes sense not to repeat the build. House of Lords would be cool but to me that does not really seem like a castle though definitely an administrative building. So maybe I misunderstood what you wanted. I say try it out in creative mode first and use real world pics to help you perhaps. Good luck!
