That’s fair.
The only way I can make any sense of this is if these are those fish that stick to the sides of sharks (remoras?), and saying “whee” because the chase is giving them a ride. But these are clearly not latched onto the side of the shark. So not only does that call into doubt if that’s what they are, it means they aren’t getting a ride, so why say “whee”?
They’re clearly remoras which can attach and detach at will:
