Video just uploaded by Nintendo explaining the Switch and what you can do with it. I guess it’s aimed at Christmas shoppers who haven’t made up their minds yet or something? Still, I found it sort of confusing. It’ll be 7 years old soon, why this video now 🤔
Last Christmas before Switch 2.
That’s exactly it. “Clear out our stock and feel real dumb in a couple months when we reveal the new one!”
Normally the ones who buy a console at the end of its lifespan are the ones getting the best deal. You have the entire library of games to choose from, and can get all the best games at once. Plus the system will have dropped in price multiple times since it came out, and the older games will cost a fraction of what they did originally. And of course, they’ll have long since addressed any design problems that early models were plagued with.
At least, that’s how it’s supposed to go.
Nintendo? Drop prices?
I didn’t expect to see a Steamdeck competitor from Nintendo. Will be interesting to see if it gains any traction.
We just watching ads around here now?
In answer to your question about why - https://xkcd.com/1053/
There are a surprising number of people who don’t game, have a different perception of what gaming is, who have heard about this switch thing but don’t know what it does, who think consoles just plug into the TV etc etc
There are also a lot of kids that have just gotten old enough to maybe get their first game console, so showing thier parents that a switch is a good first game console is a good move on Nintendos part, my niece will be in that category next Christmas.
Getting rid of old stock I would guess.
I feel like lite users deserve an OLED upgrade. The Nintendo Switch LOLED, if you will
Just call it the New Nintendo Switch Light.

I recognize that there is a non-zero audience that buys the lite because they prefer the smaller size.
But I’d be willing to bet a good bit of money that they’re outnumbered massively by the people buying the lite for the price difference.

What a cocktease of a commercial title
Nintendo Switch Lite…
Not: Nintendo Lite Switch ?
