I want the game difficulties to be not just about combat, but to be essentially bundles of game rules+datapacks, to essentially feel like separate gamemodes. Make Peaceful easier (renewable everything, no tool durability), and Hardcore harder (no villages, harder early game progression etc)

When I first started out, I assumed this was more how it worked. I definitely thought that game difficulty affected resource generation. Easier settings meant more ores scattered around (and at higher levels) while harder made them super-rare, etc.

Create Mod. Craftable vehicles, ships, and aircraft. Vastly more biomes, blocks, trees, items, and animals. Better villagers that can take orders, equip armor and weapons, and be assigned guard and patrol duties.

Oh, I’ll absolutely take a village defender mod. We already have armor racks, they could be the “career” block.

It has been too long that I’ve spent building marinas full of sailing ships that can’t go anywhere. I’ve built sailing dirigibles that can’t fly. Let me attach blocks to boats to create ships. Let me build airships onto ghasts. Let me build trains onto minecarts.

It sounds boring to the kiddos but they need to do what Jeb talked about years ago and burn an update cycle on tech debt. Clean up the codebase so things can be more readily improved. How much better would it be if stairs, slabs, etc. were given core, block level inheritance, so you could have any block as a top/bottom/side stair/slab/fence/wall/etc, with or without fluid inundation of any fluid? They put all that work into waterlogging fences and stairs to get underwater ruins but they didn’t make it just a universalised system.

A more performant server and client, they currently really love single core performance, better concurrency would be great. Though moving from Java probably isn’t a viable option due to mods and plugins.

There’s Folia, but having an official, performant server is a better option imo.

I’d love to have 0.5x0.5x0.5 blocks. The space of one block would fit 8 of these and you could place them however. For example, you could make an L shape out of them that’d be like half a stair. It’d be amazing for building small things like furniture or detailing buildings.

Vertical slabs are another one, obviously, but also mixed double slabs, horizontal and vertical. Like you could mix a horizontal brick slab and a horizontal planks slab and make a wall that is brick on one side and planks on the other, all while being only one block thick.

Another one is having a slab, stair, wall, door, and trapdoor of pretty much all blocks. Wool stairs, for example, would be amazing for furniture and those carpeted stairs you sometimes see irl in fancy-ish places. Doors/trapdoors would be awesome for secret passages and super thin walls.

Also a built-in way to make customised worlds, like single biome worlds, worlds where only a few selected biomes can generate, worldpaint, and such.

Oh yeah and a colorful poisonous frog that is smaller than other frogs, spawns in jungles, and gives you poison and nausea if you hit it.

Space travel. I don’t care if it’s just the moon, I just think it would be really fun.

    1. A mode built over adventure mode reversing minecraft player from a settler to a traveling nomad or a migrating shepard due to scarcity of slowly regenerating resources and refreshed areas. Biom logic may be rewired into season logic. Coexistence with nature, renewables, no way to industrialise farming and mining and greatly reshape environment of the great steppes.
    2. More orchestrated global events randomly presenting a challenge but giving something (even just funsies) back like in Terraria, SimCity. Meteor falling, flood, tornado, tsunami, ‘red moon’ onslaught of underworld creatures, dune worm, dragon attack, draught.
    3. PvE zombie shooter mode with human-controllable mobs.

    This is a fun thread.

And…There’s a bunch of folks in this thread who will be pretty happy next time they try Luanti.
