There are very few companies where I feel the subscription fee I’m paying is really, really, worth it.
Proton is one of them.

Is there anything newer than 2021 here?
Yeah I think you got the numbers crossed there :D
I think a lot of people start up a server because at the time it fits with what they want to do. Once you realize this is not a job (correct description) you wanted to take on it becomes much harder to motivate it.
As soon as you run a server for others outside of the immediate friends/family circle it can be really difficult to deal with the expectations of uptime and service. Also, some don’t want to ask for help but also take on all the moderation themselves too.
@seb@ioc.exchange publishes the costs for ioc.exchange:
Servers are hosted at Linode and hosting costs are around $300/month. Media files are hosted in AWS S3 and the costs are around $50/month. So in total our running costs are about $350/month.
Unfortunately the donations still don’t cover it.
This is your regular reminder that our hosting costs are roughly $350 per month. In the last 30 days you all have contributed $216. Thank you very much for everyone who has contributed - You are awesome!
edit: User numbers from fedidb: 1,737 MAU, 26,315 total.
Well. Aren’t those two exactly what open source licensing is about?
Either you follow the license, or you are in violation of copyright.
The class action suit against Sony for removing Linux from the PS3 really showed them.
What was the payout, $5 per owner?
Keep the Fediverse bot- and troll-free.
The whole idea of being able to behave like a shithead without accountability needs to go.
The negative, since I couldn’t see it:
Chromium-based browser. Support for the Proton Mail desktop app will come at a later date.
Is it technically not possible on Firefox? I would’ve expected a large overlap between caring-about-privacy and not-running-chromium amongst your customers :/
This is the right way to do it. Kudos!

What part of their existing plan were they in breach of? And why was there no description of what difference in cost there would be for different usage once they were told of the plan Cloudflare considered right for them?
With all that said, Cloudflare has shown that they cannot be relied upon. No business can work with a supplier that will just suddenly cut you off without there being some clear breach of contract and the possibility to clear things up.
The behavior from Cloudflare shown here is what you expect from some shady Russian “cheapo SaaS for you!”-provider.
Alonso should know by now that you’re only allowed to drive according to strict FIA guidelines. There’s no “racing” in F1, only passing cars that behave predictably at all times on the approved DRS straits.
Agree, I don’t think Max has enjoyed these two races. Bus driver more than a race driver.
The actual G.O.A.T
If Mercedes believe they can make a championship winning car in 2025 they should offer a one-year contract to Alonso. No one will work harder than him to win the WDC one more time.
Exactly. There’s nothing in it but money for him to continue on F1 at the moment, and my impression is he either wants to have actual competition or go do something else.
Awesome hearing every interview being “yeah Red Bull will win easily again this year”.
:(
I have now installed it and I like it.
I haven’t installed it yet, but I’m going to try out Gitness for this: https://docs.gitness.com/
There will be no Librewolf without Firefox though.
