  • The only reason he was out there was because it was faster, it’s the only reason they all do it. If it’s meant to be part of the track then it would be in the race director’s notes for where the track limit is for that corner.

So basically he can fuck off as it should be the same for everyone, that’s the whole point of the race directors notes to make that clear to every driver. It ceases to be an advantage of everyone can do it so making it a grey area is his point here.

Now when it comes to overtaking if you get pushed wide that should be interpreted one way with it absolutely not counting to your track limits violations and if you choose to run wide to hold onto the position that should be interpreted the other way.

  • Cost is high due to the high cost to FOM to be on the calendar and a lack of government subsidies, lots of other races get a big hand out. Its rare for this race to do much more than break even. Silverstone relies on the halo effect of the F1 race to improve sales of track days and other events so this is tolerated.

Ticket prices could come down if they could dramatically increase capacity, but that requires a lot more casual fans wanting to go, which requires a British driver directly challenging for the title and the circuit with its surrounding roads/parking being enlarged. Parking is better than the bad old days but its still not suitable for double the current capacity.

Lowering prices for anything other than seat fillers means operating at a loss, they cannot afford to do so for more than a handful of seasons.

  • Why would you need newer and more powerful hardware for listening to music? Really doesn’t seem a good use for the money.

The existing shield has been THE longest android device ever and still has ample power to play back even reasonably high quality x265 4k hdr without issue (15gb per hour). Couple with it being one of the most flexible without having to jail break.

The WiiM Pro if you just want audio would be the only other device I would consider as it has Roon support. If you are serious about audio then Roon can be a game changer particularly for multi room audio and multi service audio. Yes you have to pay for Roon, but no FOSS is as easy to setup and use for the average user.
