It’s an open source game engine comparable to unity. It’s governed by a foundation dedicated to maintaining it, so it has no risk of pulling a unity

I recommend Pride at Work, an organization within the AFL-CIO to help organize LGBT+ workers and advise unions and locals on being more representative for their queer comrades
the ‘O’ in REPORT feels like a directive to block, rather than do what you feel you need to avoid being brought into the issue. I’m sure if I put a few minutes into it I could come up with a recommendation on how to change it, but I’m emotionally exhausted today.
The billionaire team owners can pay for it if they want it so bad.
They got it right with PlayStation. Sony’s other product lines should take notes
So what you’re saying is that we’ve been dealing with shitty naming schemes in tech for decades?
Give it time. The porn on lemmy is growing exponentially, so the more varied content will start trickling in. My guess is roughly 3 more months before the memes really start to pick up
I suppose I can respect that opinion on memory management, but also disagree that we should always trust the programmer. I was mostly commenting on the syntax, if it weren’t for the fact that I was on the website for Hare I would have thought it was Rust.
It’s got a lot of good ideas from what I saw in the quick guide, but I feel like lifetimes are the next step for memory management in general. If they really want manual memory management to be default, they could continue to flip Rust and make a safe
attribute for functions
The language itself seems pretty heavily inspired by rust. On that note, why in the hell wouldn’t they use ownership for memory management?
… That also means figuring out how to get python to bootstrap itself. I’m in, just because I want to see how slow it would be lol
Ah yes, the real web 3. keep the good parts of web 1 and 2, while decentralizing the Internet for stronger User control
easy choice for me, O Father O Satan O Son by Behemoth
Personally, the only reason to come up with that kind of metric is to justify “profitability”. Lemmy is completely and entirely devoid of the need of profit, so imo it hasn’t, doesn’t and won’t matter
Best news I’ve heard in a long time
The big one on lemmy is exploding-heads but it’s blocked by pretty much every instance
Yea, that’s the only one I don’t recognize. My first thought was some rightwing shithole like yddrasil, but I’m pretty sure that’s not their logo
Facebook forgot it existed too, they just recently made it possible to delete threads accounts without deleting Instagram
Does anyone have hypothetical knowledge on how to set up jellyfin at one location for several family members spread out across the country?
Super niche, but I wish wren caught on. It’s a language very similar to lua, but indexes start at 0. Also it has some cool features too, but mostly the index thing.
Development is very much a “use what you know” type of field, especially at big game companies. Learning a new game engine is like learning a completely new programming language, often because you’re doing both. Every game engine has a scripting language, and very few use the same scripting language.
