  • Well, he didn’t have to say a single thing and you know what will be happening as of Austin. The whole digging of the press on him taking the point away from Norris for fasted lap, and the RB and Toro Rosso (sorry refuse to name it v something.) helping Max. Sure, it helps Max, but if you end your F1 career then fastest lap is the bare minimum he can do to put his final signature under your F1 career.

  • This was 100% on Max. 2021 divebomb. However, if you compare this with Austria, Max avoided contact on the first divebomb Lando tosses. Lewis did turn in very early which caused the contact. This could have been avoided. So I also see it as a race incident, but I think deep down Lewis didn’t mind launching Max into orbit. Considering their rivalry, I can even understand it.

So, no Lewis bashing here, just stating the fact that he did turn early. Max went again in to short term tactical thinking iso being patient and look big picture. But his emotions got the most of him.

  • I think it got clear in pre-season when they tested this in the simulator. It seems to me that Mercedes really has issues how to deal with the ground effects of the car. I’ve seen Ferrari also being bouncy (one of Mercedes problems) but are still very quick. Also the back of the Mercedes is not stable they say, which is one of the reasons Lewis in particular lacks the confidence.

He may have jumped ship to Ferrari, but keep in mind that like Verstappen, Leclerc like a loose back and pointy front, which will cause oversteer. So I am not entirely sure what Lewis preference is, but he may have a similar issue when he joins Ferrari.

The lack of confidence is actually quite clear to see, since Russell seems to be more at ease with the way the car behaves than Lewis.
