I don’t claim to have any proof that it’s fake or anything, but it’s pretty reasonable to be suspicious of stories of cannibalism. It’s exactly the kind of thing you hear from trash tabloids and it’s pretty much never true, humans generally just don’t like to eat each other. It has obviously existed throughout history to various extents, but it’s pretty fucking rare. Much rarer than, indeed, Western stories about “primitive” people used to dehumanise them.
