  • I’m an adult, always enjoyed milk but not much beyond a bowl of cereal or a glass (possibly chocolate) in a day. Don’t have it overly often most of the time but even if I do it’s not a lot. Still feels satisfying to have in my 40s. Of course I may be considered weird for other reasons by many but didn’t think the milk consumption factored in heh.

Edit thought I’d add, has at least protein in it so there are worse things to have with more sugars, though yes know lactase breaks down to carbs (or something similar I may have forgotten the name)

  • After trying to learn how to use a DAW (digital audio workstation) I end up listening to this so I can hear the same sound with slight variations. Eventually it gets to the same point as when you say a word too much and it starts to lose meaning. Seriously say something like 20+ times, it doesn’t click as the word unless you think about it. I’m sure for some people it does, but I’ve gone back to some trials later and thought oh that’s pretty close when I thought it was way off during my workings with it. The human senses aren’t as static as we think, but I probably just need more ear training to overcome it.

  • Damnit I just got a 9800x3d, guess I’ll be good knowing I can upgrade to whatever gpu comes out that’s in the sweet spot for awhile. I do have a 3070 so not like I’m slumming it, but was really hoping that the 50xx series would be worth it. Guess it’s time to read up on ray tracing and dlss type features since I haven’t done that homework in many years now. Always seemed like Nvidia was better supported but maybe not the big difference it it appears to be. I have gone back and forth over the years anyways.

  • Or it’s like a kid playing a game and interesting has a slightly different meaning. Yeah all my life forms thrived in harmony in my previous play throughs but this time I’m giving one of the smart ones a fun trait to make them incompatible with anything else to see what happens.

I did have the lid falling off thought when I first saw it though.

  • If you could only play it when you rented the game, it was more difficult to memorize. Unfortunately none of my friends owned it, I rented it semi often but can probably only passed the level under 10times. Even thinking back I can remember the exhilaration of passing it. Course I kinda suck at games and after dying at the level would find something else to do rather than keep playing. This is someone who loved the turtles back then too, only reason I’d keep renting it.

  • Dunno what OS’s it supports besides Windows but I use Kdiff for random comparisons regularly, I think it works pretty well untill you get to much larger files (20+ MB slows down a lot). The huge file wasn’t code but needed to check output changes for those curious.

I constantly check git comparison with previous versions to see what changed to break things in a build though. Didn’t know there was a way to diff any files in git, should probably just learn to use that one.

  • I may be wrong but I think it’d be the same issue in that the bios wouldn’t boot the OS from that sort of drive. For whatever reason that caused it I think it’d be a similar issue. That said by the time DVD drives being common enough for a server drive, most BIOSs would be able to handle it fine and a fair bit of time after this was needed.

Though I kinda thought with proper configuration cd rom drives were all bootable, but I wasn’t working with servers in that era either so there were probably some mobos/bios that didn’t work properly for booting a cd/DVD drive. Closest to the time I was familiar with was XP and pretty sure that was expected to be CD bootable in 2001. So maybe this kicked in the bios support for bootable non floppy disc drives?

  • First time my brother mentioned it he thought the live play was a commercial / live racing at first. It sounds silly now but at the time the graphics were much better than anything we were used to in racing games. Also back then it wasn’t unknown to have proper live filming for video game commercials. We were both adults at the time too, unsure if that’s worse or better heh.

Now I check out Forza Horizon and am like, yeah that’s digital, nice and shiny but definitely digital.

  • Yeah I’ve had it in my library for awhile, played a handful of hours and ended up being off today so thought why not? Can’t get to online mode, I always figured I’d do online mode when it was released. A shame but it happens. Granted I tried right after I could download it so probably not the best time but I was also curious if something like this would come up. I’m sure it’ll get sorted out anyways.

  • The problem with stuff like flow charts is that when you do a new feature that changes the chart then there’s another chunk of time to update that document. If you’re really interested in that all you can really do is make your own as you go through software and you’ll see usual patterns how different code areas interact. it’s not as useful as figuring it out on your own or studying design paradigms.

  • I find sex scenes awkward to enjoy, I kinda like the fade to black where it’s implied but not delved into. That said so many novels that are aimed at a similar audience with sci Fi and fantasy have always had sex scenes (Necromancer, Hyperion, Expanse all have sex in them) When we were playing text based games back in the 80s we wanted a cinematic experience. What’s the result? Games with sex in them. A new Leisure Suit Larry game is probably about due now that I think of it heh. I just click through and continue on.
