This is fun but partially incorrect; yes, more money is better quality, however zero money means infinite quality. Prove me wrong, exhibit A is “the other site”.
I ran from Reddit, it be like that

Not AI! Please!
I swear, tomorrow I am finding AI in the goddamn toilet paper!
Of course. Rules for thee and not for me.
I have seen some start a consultancy, sane job, better pay and strict agreements on presence. There’s probably also a whole heap of companies raking in real talent, motivated and eager to drive the former employer’s business into the ground.
No, iron deficiency
You don’t even need a calculator for a quick calculation, take the closest value of 10: 3x7=21x37 or easier 20x40 = 800 which is close to the actual number, 777.
The Hurd hasn’t done anything properly in, what, 3 decades? I am actually surprised someone even remembers it.
That’s awesome!
Well, I don’t necessarily need Riker, but then I never thought Disco was really Star Trek. It could stand on its own feet perfectly fine but shoehorning it into TOS killed it for me. VOY and DS9 were great and showed that you could do different and still fit well.
I too am planning to leave; while the pricing is going up, that’s not really my issue. Support is not exactly helpful these days, and their business services stink - not really, because if they actually did, at least we could find them. There’s no added value for lots of money, no innovation, their cli tooling is dead, etc.
IIRC, VOY and DS9 were stored for long term on videotape, with the original footage deleted from the disks, while TOS and TNG were still (kept on) reels. Remastering film is a lot easier than upscaling low quality videotape, especially since that is also vulnerable to EM and much more to heat than modern film. I think the Laserdiscs were created from the original footage, so you have some proper gold here. You might be able to create even better upscaling with this than CaptRobau: https://captrobau.blogspot.com/2019/04/how-did-i-upscale-star-trek-ds9-footage.html
It does! The game is from ‘71; PCs really took off in the early 90s, but they started in ‘81: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_PC_compatible
The IRL. pinball machine? Oh man that was my favourite!
Wow, I started looong ago:
Why am making such a gross example btw
No, because I can now create an account at - as a fictitious example - Lemmypoop, and see their content and everyone else’s, something that could be prevented when I only can create an account on poop-disliking Lemmy.clean. At the very best, it would end up in a huge amount of little bubble islands, where accounts and content are bound together.
That’s not a great idea. I understand where OP is coming from, but this could make the admins of the user account servers very powerful , as they would be in control of who would get access to what.
IANAL either but do have a ToS. Like slapping, say, a GPLv3 on your code, a ToS defines what users are allowed to do with your service. Imagine if someone found a way to use your bot to steal users’ data, or harass people online, etc. - you’d be angry because they are not supposed to use your bot for that.
Can’t have COBOL without COOL!
You’re not wrong. I do have the app because the mobile site shits on my browser (I have anti tracking, cookie blocking, ad wiping defences), and there are a few niche communities I find important that stick around (and r/sysadmin, while not exactly niche, is really useful for me)
