I buy an index fund, I’m forcibly bought into scams. I stay in cash, and the government steals the value by printing more cash. Sometimes it feels like everything‘s a scam except possibly for hard assets.

A single person used AI to help write a port for macOS. It’s not exactly a community effort even though the developer bills it as such. It’s unofficial and unaffiliated with the project.

That’s OK. I only have to deal with it at work, and they have it disabled with whatever enterprise group policy or management tools they’re using.

I’m most excited for the explicit congestion notification and lazy preemption by default. Really bleeding edge kernel features.

You certainly can. I think part of this perception comes from this idea that you’re stuck with the same desktop environment or utilities that came with the system, whereas on Linux you can completely reinstall things you didn’t even know were options from the Windows World.

For example, I can run Gnome and use the KDE connect application if I want to.

To some users, if the system doesn’t recommend the use case or hold your hand through it, they confuse that with being impossible.

But the PM said it has to be this tall.

This is what I call junk open source. They use the open source label, but it’s not really open source in spirit. The license is restrictive and I’d recommend against using any such software in favor of something that’s actually, properly open source. If you’re bothering to self host, I feel like this freedom is important to most users.

Also, I think this is an advertisement and should be removed.

It’s got a very long way to go, but it could be interesting if phones could be compatible with the technology despite their very small size compared to their square meter transmission antenna.

Note that this is compared to vanilla. Most real users of Wine are already taking advantage of other optimizations like fsync, and will experience much more modest gains relative to this comparison point.

I believe the implication is that the spouse is not technically literate or is for some other reason expected to be mislead into downloading untrusted or dangerous software.

By segmenting the network, the spouse’s actions can be contained.
