Cool! I’ll subscribe. I’ve got about a dozen projects I’d like to build with Ollama, if I’ll get the motivation and free time who knows?

Thanks for the tip! I haven’t heard of that and I’ve been looking for something to keep track of this stuff as well.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Star trek clothing lineEnglish3·3 months agoMy partner and I have been ogling much of their wares for the last year or so. I could easily spend $3,000 on the website (you know, if I had $3,000 to blow on clothes).
Fix regression with saving states of user queries
Awesome, I’m really glad that’s finally fixed. That issue made my use of FreshRSS almost pointless.
I’ve been wondering about that one, had it on my wishlist forever and forgot why I put it there. I think I’ll pick it up, so thanks for the recommendation!
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: There is a website called WhoIsInSpace.com that sleekly catalogs who is in space, the spacecraft that brought them up, when they launched, and how long each have been in space for.English2·5 months agoHe’s been in space for 9,461 days.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin is not just good... but *better* than Plex now?!English2·5 months agoNope, I still use Emby myself. Although I’m in the process of switching to Jellyfin I think. I have it running separately to sort of evaluate it. Jellyfin was a fork of Emby, so there are a lot of similarities.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin is not just good... but *better* than Plex now?!English4·5 months agoI’ve had Infuse Pro for about 6 years and it has been an absolutely perfect app for me. I’ve used it across many different iterations of home media servers (Emby, Jellyfin, NFS, SMB, etc…)
If you use Apple devices it’s the best way to go.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Algorithms are breaking how we think | Technology ConnectionsEnglish46·5 months agoGreat video, thanks for posting! This guy articulated a lot of thoughts about algorithmic recommendations that I’ve never been quite able to form into coherent thoughts myself. I definitely understand why I decided to go all in with the fediverse or social web half a decade ago or so now.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Announcing FediMeteo – Weather in the Fediverse!English2·6 months agoIndeed! Kinda makes me want to come up with some sort of “snac-service” idea.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Announcing FediMeteo – Weather in the Fediverse!English2·7 months agoThat’s a really cool use for snac! It’s perfect for something so straightforward and uses so little resources that I would imagine if you eventually have the entire planets weather forecasts being published it would still only use a tiny amount of bandwidth and power!
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•There is a hole in my wall from a door handle.2·7 months agoI looked into that a few years ago when my kid was still a door slammer, thankfully those days are over. I think.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•There is a hole in my wall from a door handle.2·7 months agoMy house has several pocket doors (sliding doors) and I can tell you now, they can be slammed. Just differently.
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Your explanation of federation that it "works like email" will be misunderstoodEnglish111·8 months agoI think one of the main reasons why the fediverse didn’t blow up much bigger than it did over the past couple of years is because of the weird and insistent need to explain how it works from every possible angle with seemingly every possible analogy. It’s information overload and it only confuses the shit out of people who do not care in the slightest how it works.
Hmm… maybe if we tell the nerds that they need to add an “abstraction layer” to their explanations that might motivate them to simplify?
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Video conversion and encoding scriptEnglish2·8 months agoPerfect timing for me! I was starting to plan out how I was going to transcode my media library and had decided to write a script to do it. So I’ll give this one a try!
Jonathan@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Choose Your Fighter: Microblogging EditionEnglish3·8 months agoI had the same thoughts about using a domain as username and it is basically smoke and mirrors. I did not know however that you can use a domain for a bridged account. Are you saying that my ActivityPub account that is bridged to Bluesky can have a username that is a domain that I own?
It really is great! The amount of innovation and creativity in regard to the Fediverse is amazing. Although Bluesky seems to be blowing up big right now, I’m actually hopeful that it will motivate those of us within the ActivityPub realm to create even more and it seems to already be happening.
I’d love to see an easier path of entry to Lemmy as well. “Community Packs” would be a great way to help with that!
As soon as someone that is similar to most people in my life sees the words “.csv” and “hamburger menu” their eyes will glaze over and they’ll bounce.
Plus there’s step number 4 that I know will scare folks away…
Select Import and Export >>> Import >>> Import type dropdown: “Lists” (NOT “Following list”) >>> Verify that ‘Merge’ is selected >>> Browse >>> Select “[file name] – list.csv” >>> Upload >>> Confirm
The Pixelfed developer is actively working to get a streamlined solution for Starter Packs out for all kinds of ActivityPub servers that will use existing APIs and methods that already exist within the protocol. He mentioned it should be available in beta in a day or two.
Already setup! I think the first thing I want to do is setup retrieval augmented generation. Several of my hobby ideas will require it I think. Started trying to read up on it a couple days ago and I had a serious lack of focus going on.
I’ve been kind of hoping to come across a super simple way to implement it, but haven’t exactly looked much yet.
