PeopleMakeGames has a two part series on Valve that’s pretty interesting. The second part (here) dives into the structure of the company. It does have a bit of an angle, fwiw, so if you’d prefer something more objective, it might not be a great watch. Personally I think the issues they bring up are valid, but figured I’d mention it.

People don’t (or shouldn’t) vote only when they know they’ll get what they want. That’s a good way to never get anything done. The only way to achieve anything is by acting with conviction and encouraging/hoping others do the same.

But their question wasn’t “Do humans deserve to go extinct?”, it was “Can we survive?” Your (valid) issues with human-driven climate change don’t really have anything to do with what they brought up.

Seriously. I was thrilled to see Sony start porting over interesting looking games, but if they go back to their previous release standard, I’m fine going back to my previous “not playing ps exclusives” standards. I’ve got plenty of other games to get to. No need to go out of my way to get over the hurdles they put up.

It really isn’t. What you’ve described is every business plan ever, not psuedo-rent seeking or lessening the product for profit. You not liking their new choices is a personal problem, not an issue with the company.

Producing content you don’t like isn’t remotely close to “enshittification”.

“Bring back”? They already exist. There are an endless number of small devs out there. Most of them don’t have good games, let alone “titles of substance”, so you have to do some work yourself to find the good stuff rather than expecting a constant stream of approved content to just fall in your lap.

Just be careful that it doesn’t become overly attached and try to become your mother.

As a previous tab hoarder, excessive use of bookmarks is the answer. Organized is more useful, but even a single bookmark folder for all of your “I’ll need this later” tabs will do wonders for you, and being a bookmark hoarder is so much more functional than being a tab hoarder. You can actual reset your browser every once in a while.

Eh, it depends on how much you trust/value the company or product. I got a first gen Steam Deck and, while I didn’t expect an updated model so quickly, I have no regrets. Even if it didn’t live up to my expectations (it has), I would’ve wanted to support a customer friendly device like this.

If it’s purely transactional, though, I agree - waiting for an updated or revamped version will be a much better value overall.

Unfortunately blocking an instance only blocks posts on that instance, not users from it, which is the main issue people have with those instances.

Sorry it bugs you, but it’s far better than the entirely uninteresting/unoriginal “Doom-like”. I get it’s standard practice at this point, but I’m happy whenever we get an actually interesting, poignant name.
