Didn’t get home til late last night… Looking at my automation. If you’ve successfully connected (via mqtt) and validated in explorer. my automation to trigger a notification on motion is quite simple.
I get alerts from BI Motion in HA (via mqtt)… I’ll look at it a bit to jog my memory and see if I can give any tips. It’ll likely be tomorrow or so as I’m traveling today
I had a humidity switch in ours a while ago (not smart) and it would turn on too much even if a shower wasn’t running but our windows were open. And, enough humidity was in the air. So that didn’t work out great.
It was a self contained deal not a smart switch though
I’m not sure if I’ve tried doing any PTZ stuff, but all the other settings for sure. The cameras I have all have SD cards so you could manage everything right from the UI and just have it record locally.
They want to connect to the mothership and destroy log files trying to get there.
All of the Amcrest “management” I do is within blue iris. I have a ptz IP4M-1041B but do not do any ptz stuff via HA. I use blue iris to send stream/alerts to HA via MQTT. This allows me to do notifications on motion. I would assume if you have location presets setup in BI you could call them from HA but that’s a guess.
I messed around with presets (camera location) in blue iris a bit bit didn’t have a real use case for it so I am not sure how robust it is.
I block internet access to all Amcrest cameras directly but can still access their local IP. I have access to my cameras again via blue iris which runs on a dedicated windows machine.
Been using enbrighten switches from Jasco. I use their Zwave but I think they have ZigBee too.
I use the ones that look like toggle switches over the paddle style to match the rest of the house .
I have them on all our bathroom fans too so they can be left on (steam / smell disposal) and auto shut off after 30 min.
I’ve got amcrest and I integrate them into HA via mqtt using blue iris.
But amcrest cameras need something like pihole to help block all their taking to the home base
I removed my account a few years ago when they moved a bunch of features behind their paywall. I’m perfectly fine just using Garmin’s built in ‘news feed’ and tracking without giving my data to another company.
Hope it stays that way.
There’s all kinds of people being born every day, growing up and becoming self hosting unRAID users. Meanwhile current license holders are growing older and dying off.
How is continuing to charge for new people to get into unRAID unsustainable? If it’s worked this long but isn’t now then increase the prices, or watch your overhead.
I’m here until my pro license starts costing me again. If that happens, I’ll likely jump just like I have done with other products I paid for that changed our original agreement.
I add them each as their own entities but they are automatically totalled after that. You can see in my image left and right main. That’s each Emporia
Haha ya no doubt
I have two Emporia Vue 2s one in each 150a panel, flashed with esphome so they’re only reporting locally and it works great. 16 circuits per vue.
I didn’t hit Reddit until Digg’s problems started up, but those, like these now here, where the good 'ol days :)
It 100% brought me here. Didn’t know what Lemmy was until the chaos over there. ultimately deleted my account never looked back. And that was a lot of eyeball time they lost from me.
We’re missing the overall mass of people that both generate new, and answer questions on the content that was there, but I’m OK with that and I actually get better engagement here with those missing mass of people. I’m sure there’s a point of more is not better when it comes to users.
Nasty was probably strong word. I mostly expressed my disappointment and that I would steer clear going forward. And that would have a stronger economic impact on their bottom dollar.
I sent them a nasty gram from their contacts page. I don’t own anything from them right now but you can damn well bet I will avoid them if when/if it comes up.
I pointed them to Louis’ video also
I assume a zero chance of any purchases is a larger economic hit than allowing a small diy community to interact with their PURCHASED and OWNED product.
I agree if your diy an esp32 and a dht11 could easily handle those duties.
I use one with 2 DHT11s and two DS18B20s to monitor my HVAC temps.
Well, early days, but after doing a full backup I went with the update and this appears to be doing ok so far. My recorder is working, my history and energy dashboard still exist unlike any of the .7 releases.
This allowed me to upgrade Alarmo (which had a dependency above .6) and fixes a disarm bug.
Hoping HA for me is back fully functional!
