Not recovering, almost certainly, dead is another matter. Modern medicine can do an insane job of keeping someone “alive” long past the point their body has given out. Particularly when money isn’t a factor.

My guess is that he’s either brain-dead, but kept “alive” by machines, or wishes he was brain-dead, while being kept in pain by machines.

Ironically, it actually did its job pre WWII.

Vertical solar panels are looking to be quite economical. While there power per panel surface is lower, the timing of peak outputs is an excellent complement to standard solar. It has maximum output in the morning and evenings, when people want to run home appliances etc, rather than at midday when they are all at work.

It also uses less land. Rather than giving up 100% of a field to solar, A farmer can give up 20%, leaving the rest for crops or livestock. Apparently sheep do particularly well in this setup. The panels provide shade, and more diversity in plant types to eat. They actually do better than those in an empty field of the same size.

I definitely think there are grounds to the cleanliness hypothesis. Basically the immune system expects a certain amount of activity. If it’s underperforming, the body systems assume it’s a problem with the immune system, not a lack of bugs, because we are too clean. It then racks up activity levels, causing problematic autoimmune or allergy reactions.

I think the immune system can’t see the eye, so it’s never trained to avoid it. If the eye is damaged, the immune system can become aware of it and start reacting. Once it starts, pulling it back is not easy.

The immune response system is simultaneously amazing and insane.

It basically deliberately scrambles part of the DNA in the immune cells that create antibodies. The rest of the body then sheds cells into the blood to move to the lymph nodes. Any immune cells that react then self destruct.

It’s the equivalent of firing a paint blunderbuss at a wall, and creating a silhouette by standing in the way!

Vr headsets can deal with tilted heads fine now. You still need to tune the Interocular distance properly.

It depends on what sort you’re talking about. Lag will definitely mess you up, but it is mostly a solved issue. Low frame rate stutter can be unpleasant however.

The big issue is moving around. If you “feel” like you’re moving in game, but your body is not moving, it creates motion sickness. It’s the inverse of trying to read a book in a car, with the same results.

I’m normally fairly immune to it. I played subnautica in VR (modded). It was amazing, but I could only do 5-10 minutes max before I had to stop.

The other big source (mostly affecting 3D TV) is offset eyes. A lot of people have 1 eye very slightly higher than the other, or stand with a slight head tilt. If you force the stereoscopic effect then their eyes want to rotate. Since they can’t do that, it creates migraine like headaches.

I’ve played with some qidi printers. I’ve found they are not the most reliable printers around.

It was a older machine however, so it might have been a unit issue, rather than a company one.

Octoprint is amazing. I’ve used it for years with my old ender 3.

Unfortunately £1678 (Core 1 + indx) is well outside my max budget for a hobby machine.

That was definitely a nail in the coffin, as far as I am concerned. They’ve not passed my ‘sniff test’ since the start. The legal threats just show that they are doubling down, rather than backtracking.

Prusa has at least built up some credit with the community. Bambu came in planning on locking people in.

Not even playing lip service to supporting the open source stuff they built upon. They’ve also recently been trying to lockdown and paywall (or just drop) features. Including legal action against people trying to undo the damage.

The general sniff test is they are trying to lock people in before milking them for all they can.

Both of those have a lot of bang for their buck. I had also missed both completely. 👍

A smooth, efficient customer experience keeps us around.

Pis are excellent mini computers. Unfortunately, their long term reliability isn’t quite there. When I used one, I was getting a couple of lock up crashes a year. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s just enough to be REALLY frustrating to the (less technical) wife. The tipping point is when it goes from “nice to have” to “expected”.

I acquired a 2nd hand NUC, and it’s been bomb proof for a few years now.

They’ve had to pear it back hard, as well as made some (slightly controversial) changes. It was needed to make the transition however, and the movie flows quite well.
