Oh, I generally couldn’t agree more. In this specific case it was actually their authentication service that was down, but it meant if you use multiple accounts with Plex or have a pin on your singular account that you were essentially locked out. But I agree it’s a bad look to have remote dependencies at all.
I run both concurrently, but Plex has had a rash of outages recently that led to it and any services relying on it completely useless. It’s insane that an online service outage would cause me to be unable to stream media locally, so yeah Jellyfin has been all but essential, recently.

Ah, okay. I wasn’t thinking of the job title in terms of software development, I was thinking in terms of backend infrastructure. That’s my own career bias showing. I still think the post comes off as privileged as IDEs a mostly OS agnostic. The biggest hurdle is the environment that’s being developed for, which I still maintain OP should have been able to sus out during the application and interview process.
IT uses windows exclusively = it’s a Windows shop. “Senior backend engineer” tells us nothing, but the skills required to work for Devin in an exclusively windows environment would have been obvious.

This is interesting, even without the benevolent AI, though that could be interesting as well. But what happens when The Federation runs into essentially another Federation? Do they combine and double their knowledge and territory or do they clash over differing ideals?
