I’m at the level of finally understanding pointers, templates, and operator/function overloads and using them pretty effortlessly now. I looked at some Rust code. I’m not sure I have the brain plasticity to take that on at my age now without massive struggling.
I’m in my 40s, and finally decided to give C/C++ a serious go and try to learn them at a competent level after decades of putting it off, and now everybody wants to move to Rust.
Sounds like a web based spreadsheet. Being able to insert and edit data using friendly web forms but not needing to know SQL commands.
I started my embedded engineering journey by blinking an LED on a PIC microcontroller back in 2007. Maybe you can toss them an Arduino development board. Programming by itself could be boring and tedious, but seeing your program actually do things in the real world could be exciting, at least it was for me. There’s so much to branch to from there, everything from industrial automation to vehicle navigation to robotics.
There’s nothing wrong with charging for your FOSS. You can’t, however, force anybody who gets it from you to also charge the people they end up distributing it to like some sort of Ponzi scheme. The transactional relationship between you, your software, and another party ends at the first level.
It does mean free of cost if the person downstream from you decides to not charge for it after getting it from you and forking it. That’s why you’re not finding a FOSS license that allows this. Because again, that’s not FOSS.
This is not FOSS then. FOSS puts no restrictions on downstream use of your software other than that you acknowledge and credit the original authors… This is “Open Source” with strings attached. It’s no different than being forced to sign an NDA to see your code.
You either make it free for everybody, or then it isn’t free software.
The people who have the means to just uproot everything and move to another country on a whim are probably not the same people who are struggling to live here, and so the incentive there is to not really care because they’re comfortable where they are.
We aren’t really taught to give much of a shit about our fellow citizens here. There isn’t any kind of social cohesion, it’s everyone for themselves. We saw the US’s true colors when we tried to get everybody vaccinated.

I’m surprised these things have been on the market for almost a decade now and nobody has really attempted or figured out how to crack them and put third party firmware on them.
Why are they being called “boomer shooters”? My boomer parents didn’t want anything to do with them. The older millenials were the ones playing them. Most boomers don’t even like video games.
