13·8 days agoRight, they’re not trying to cater to Trump to save their skins, they’re trying to make more money.
Gay or foreign employees and their lives be damned.
What revolt changed its name to
malware protection, due to its small userbase.
That’s just security through obscurity though
That is a spectacularly bad name, lol

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Valve amended the Steam survey for December 2025 - Linux actually hit another all-time high [updated from 3.19% to 3.58%]English
5·12 days agoThere were a few issues I spotted like languages and such not adding up, but now they do so it appears there’s a few corrections that were made to it this month.
With the update, we see a few more distributions being noted in the list compared with before:
I wonder if the miscount is due to distribution names, or some other issue

Technology@beehaw.org•AMD and Nvidia are talking about local AI, good news for PC gamers and memory pricesEnglish
6·12 days agoIt’s actually a really good talk from someone qoth decades of UX experience. The focus was more on innovation in UX (with the example that Microsoft got AI in Windows very… very wrong).

20·12 days agoThere’s a great talk here where he talks about using local models where I could see them actually being useful.
Hopefully we get there and memory stops this ridiculous 5000% markup.

Like… maybe some people aren’t a huge fan, but saying poorly written seems harsh. Maybe you just don’t like fantasy?

13·22 days agoHe had some kind of problem with the laptop Wi-Fi driver on his new install of Ubuntu, and — pressed for time, away from home — decided that the best way to fix it was to reinstall Windows.
Funny enough, I’ve only had that problem with Windows. Both for my Steel Legend motherboard, and a Framework laptop I setup as a gift with Windows.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•You can force FSR 4 Redstone to work on RDNA 3 GPUs with new workaround for Linux systems — solution requires Proton compatibility to work properlyEnglish
7·28 days agoBoth the FSR4/RDNA 2 and FSR4/RDNA 3 mods allowed older hardware to enjoy these new features, but at a much higher performance cost. According to u/AthleteDependent926, FSR4 Redstone is much more demanding than FSR3, with the latency on their AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT at 0.13ms — almost double the reported 0.07ms achieved with the older frame gen tech, but still at an acceptable level.
I’m sure this is why they didn’t bother, but they really should have just made it clear that the technique is super expensive on RDNA3 cards – they’ve handled this very poorly and makes us think they’re just trying to push RDNA4 while abandoning RDNA3.
