You’ve perhaps compared the wrong niche though. Game streamers are the Harlem Globetrotters; you’re not there to watch excellent gaming, but entertaining gaming. Whereas esports are the equivalent to competitive sports.

It’s important to remember that Trump’s current case he’s arguing he didn’t have the Mens Rea for deliberate fraud, so it’s weird to see GOP members discounting that argument as invalid with Biden.

It isn’t. The point is that accruing back taxes requires payment and may, at the discretion of the IRS, mandate a criminal charge. He wasn’t charge at the time because he paid, but he could have been. So now they want him to have been.

However I think neither party really wants things to go this way, and Republicans are going to see lots of retaliatory investigation and charges brought over missed payments etc. should they pursue this.

A waste of time and money, doesn’t improve anything in the world, just creates more division. Basically the GOP motto.

That poster is wrong I’m afraid. Though not every job in animation was impacted (some were non-union, some accepted the interim agreements) Lower Decks definitely was. The cast is all SAG and all struck.

SAG-AFTRA’s strike definitely impacted voice work. Non-guild work exists, and wasn’t impacted, but the main cast of LD are all SAG and have mostly hit the picket line too.

I think that what the authors, and indeed most fans, think is that TWOK was what made TNG possible. Had the film not captured the cultural attention of its time there’s very slim chance that more trek would ever have been produced. It was a Hail Mary and it paid off.

Of what I read the author seems to either not understand linear time, or have explained it poorly. The events of SNW don’t happen “before the … 2009 theatrical release”; they happen after that stardate, by 20 something years, and crucially, in a different timeline…

Basically, OP, the JJ events have nothing to do with the Prime timeline (except the instantiating incident) so marking time based on those factors isn’t common. I might seem like the worst type of sneering Trekkie dork, but Kirk is a living character in his late twenties in Strange New Worlds. The show isn’t taking place before he was born; just before he was Captain. Spock doesn’t require supernatural abilities that defy aging to stay in basically the same job for 10 years.

There were loads of overt Star Wars references in this episode which was fun.

• Music queues were distinctly more John Williams-y.
• Scene transitions hidden behind ships travelling past the screen.
• Scariff style forcefield over one planet.
• Tatooine like architecture.
• Tatooine cantina shape and style to the bar.
• A masked bounty hunter with an unintelligible language is actually an undercover ally.
• The weather station is reminiscent of the Endor shield array.
• Attacking a technological foe with sticks and war cries was similar to the Ewok battle in RotJ.

Some folks had a good day when they signed all that off.

That isn’t a theory, that’s true isn’t it? Original show notes were for Paris to be Locarno, but it was going to be far too expensive for them over the years (total cop out IMHO). Think of Locarno coming back as this; Moore and Shankar are finally getting some of that skrilla

Paris is genuinely entertaining in it. The look of perverse amusement as he pops his own tongue off, total brilliance. It’s the exact amount of goofy that the premise demands.
