I am also always immensely confused how gamers don’t see valve taking 30% of pc sales and not recognize that as greedy shit bag behavior.
We all know when google or apple does it on their app store its bad, or when spotify pays artists pennies its bad, or when actors are striking because of its shady residuals payout from streaming its bad. But when king gaben does it, its fine perfectly ok. Even though game devs are some of the most overworked and underpaid workers in tech. And then people wonder why games suck lately.
Im wearing a Kirby shirt rn (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
I feel like you missed the biggest issue with Valve and that’s the fact that they have essentially a monopoly on PC game sales because no one wants to use the competition and they take a 30% cut of every sale… why should they get all that money? Gabe is our gaming landlord. It’s rent seeking economics, pure parasitism but no one calls it out.
I just think its bad cus it supports transphobia…
LEGO fortnite, was just looking at job postings
A good way to find stuff is to follow hashtags you are interested in. You start seeing people who post stuff you like and follow them as well. Want art? Follow #mastoart. Want stuff about programming? Follow #programming. Then you start seeing artists and programmers and you can follow them to see their other posts. They boost something and oh that is interesting to so you follow that person too. You kinda gotta get the ball rolling by just following stuff.
There is not really an algorithm on masto which is simultaneously its greatest weakness and strength, just people boosting stuff, just people tagging stuff. It takes a little more work to find stuff but the benefit is no one can game the algorithm. Things spread organically.
Should give game dev a try then you will learn how long 16ms is…
