I just have an inherent distrust of sloppers, Windows exclusive developers, and people who either lie or are incompetent on the topic of actually being open source. Apparently they are still claiming to be open source from what I see, so I’ll look more into if that’s true or not.

This is a really interesting topic because apparently all of the hit games produced on Roblox were just clones of hit games on steam in general.

Right now the developers aren’t policing Slop so only if you’re okay with that. Also, it’s not free.

Did they actually make s&box open source? Because when I tried building the engine from github after the Steam launch it wasn’t working anymore and forums were saying it required a purchase.

The monetary aspect wouldn’t really pan out, if it’s open source and every transaction is P2P instead of through a verifiable centralized third party then it’s just going to get inundated with (more) scams.

This implies one of three things:

1. Roblox doesn’t have the same level of attraction of young children anymore.

2. The share value was being heavily inflated by one or more entities and the time has come to dump.

3. The bad economy is finally hitting Mom’s Credit Card.

FR, this changes nothing for me because I’ve go nothing to do with EA.

IMO a much bigger barrier is how many people actively tolerate Tankie comms, including Lemmy as a whole. I think at some point PieFed will take off and leave them all behind.

I wish the same were true of programming.dev but the mods and admins seem to promote it.

Programmers are important and do important work but programming doesn’t make somebody a physician, or sheriff, or attorney, or congressman.

When control valves in a reactor don’t appear to be having an effect you don’t call the comp sci guy in to run diagnostics on the terminal, first, instead you call the engineers who manually seal the valves and shuts down the turbines to prevent coolant loss.

As far as being an engineer goes, correct. Finally getting it.
