  • “I think everything is going have to be done with strategy, because you can’t overtake"

I still feel this needs addressing. Whether it be through making adjustments to make overtaking feasible (either in the track or the car regulations), adjusting the rules to force more pitstops and therefore provide more opportunities for these strategy calls to play out, or by not racing at tracks that don’t make racing feasible.

We’ll see how the race actually goes but if you have one of the fastest cars on the track and can’t get through to the front runners because “you can’t overtake” then something is wrong. Hoping Lando is wrong there.

On the other hand, would be hilarious if Oscar ended up closing the gap to Lando and we’re back to McLaren not sure who they should push.

  • This I think is the key here really. Without pitting Lando first, Oscar likely (not guaranteed obviously but likely) wins. So the only reason Lando was in a position to win was because the team decided to do something they believe was needed to secure P1 and P2.

That being said, ever since getting his first win, Lando’s been chomping at the bit for a second one. Every race since that he hasn’t won he’s been incredibly down on himself. I hope the team are getting him someone to work with to work through that, and that they’re realising what his state of mind is like when these types of things happen during a race.

  • I’d second afraid.org, have been using them for years and they’ve always been great. They also support dynamic DNS so if you’re on a dynamic IP address you can have the address be updated automatically when your IP address does.

More relevant to the question, I’m pretty sure you can create NS records for a subdomain as well. I was experimenting once a few years back with a DNS tunnel service and was able to get the DNS side of it configured. Never did get the service itself working but it was more of a curiosity at the time so didn’t spend a massive amount of time on it.

  • I use ocserv to provide a Cisco AnyConnect compatible VPN server. There’s an SSL proxy running on port 443 of my gateway so the VPN is only accessible using the right domain name, and the server is running in a Docker container.

Main reason I go for ocserv over OpenVPN or Wireguard is when I used to travel to China for work I found it was able to get past the Chinese firewalls. No idea if it still holds true but a few years ago it was fine.
