“Infinite growth” is like still believing in the Tooth Fairy, yet these people basically run the world.

1·2 years agoOh thank goodness, for some reason I thought episode 9 was the series finale. I’m obviously paying attention…
Similarly, 2 was my first Uncharted, which I played partway through at a friend’s. When I got my own PS3 I decided to start back at 1 and found it did a much better job of teaching me how to play the game than 2 did. When I went back to 2 after finishing 1, everything I had trouble with was so much easier, and it was really need to see the jump in graphics between the games.

10·2 years agoI’m glad they kept the ridiculousness. They could have made it super serious and edgy, and I don’t think it would have fit as well.

121·2 years agoWeird. I really enjoyed it. Loved the characters, liked the story, and all the little nods to the games and fandom were nice and didn’t feel out of place. Probably one of the better adaptations I’ve seen.

2·2 years agoKelvinverse was different from the Prime timeline before the Narada arrived because people past that point might not travel backwards in time the same way they would have without intervention.

1·2 years agoDidn’t I read in another thread that Tencent owns Larian? Didn’t they just win, like, every game award ever in 2023?

4·3 years agoSeason 3 worked because of the ensemble cast, though. The first two where it was “Picard and Friends” felt weird, and not like what anyone really wanted, and if this is another “Just Picard” thing it’s likely to end up the same.

8·3 years agoYeah. Getting out of physical media now, as every streaming service is hitting peak enshittification, is such a wild choice for Best Buy to be making, it has to have been handed to them by people trying to keep people on streaming. Now is the time to be making a killing in physical media.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Starfield design lead says players are "disconnected" from how games are actually made: "Don't fool yourself into thinking you know why it is the way it is"
26·3 years agoSeriously. At the end of the day it’s the players who decide whether a game is good or fun. They might not understand the nuances of what went into creating a game they don’t find fun, but that doesn’t make them wrong.
Old Gods of Asgard live was amazing, and Alan Wake 2 NG+ next Monday, which is huge (for reasons I won’t explain, y’alls will just have to play the game).
I had other things to say but I’m too excited about that, so I’m going to bed.

Gaming@beehaw.org•What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games?
32·3 years agoFinal Fantasy XVI's Active Time Lore. Being able to pause the game and have a list of relevant characters, places, and concepts for the scene you're in is so helpful for my ADHD, for when I take a break from a game and come back not knowing what's going on. I want to see this in every story heavy game.

Gaming@beehaw.org•What the current wave of layoffs means for the games industry
5·3 years agoNow that games are basically $100 after taxes (Canadian) I have to be a lot more selective of which games I buy.
Actually, I’ve been buying more indie games than ever.

Resident Evil 9. Especially now with Sony’s weird “phone home every 30 days or lose it” for digital games, I feel like it’s more important than ever to buy as much physically as possible. I get so annoyed when games are released as digital only, or now with Nintendo’s game key cartridges.
