My policy was to just pick an instance I trusted (already trusted Blahaj, so that was easy).

I would say it’s probably a good idea to pick an instance with at least 30-40 people, because the more people who have subscribed to remote communities, the more content will automatically federate to the instance (therefor making it easier for you to find new content).

If you like Blahaj then there is also a Piefed Blahaj instance now! I like Piefed over lemmy, I don’t know if they’ve added it to lemmy since I left but I really like being able to mute replies. It has other features lemmy lacks too, like being able to block an entire instance or make feeds (multireddit like function).

Fr, my phone was over 3x as old when I traded it in, and it wasn’t even broken. I just knew I had to replace it in the next 4 years and didn’t want to get hit with tariffs.

They’re already putting up stadium seating for the parade along the roads in Pasadena, it’s pretty wild. Dunno if I want to battle the winter weather, I’ve lived in LA 12+ years and never done the Rose Parade, but the Trek stars make it tempting!

I love it, ate it like popcorn when I was a kid! Weirdly in my experience the frozen, pre-breaded kind can retain some internal sliminess, especially when baked, but I’ve never encountered that with made from scratch (I imagine they’d do the same if you froze them first).

Have you ever had fried okra (homemade, not the frozen prebreaded stuff), and if so how would you compare it? My brain says they look the same, but I feel like the nopales would be mushier. Either way, looks fantastic, absolutely would.
