I don’t need to make an excuse. You’re making excuses, even more pathetic, you’re making excuses for a megacorp trying to datamine their customers by changing the conditions for use of the game that they already bought.
Toodles.

I’m not going to. Ultimately, Sony is a megacorp and I’m just one dude. I’ll simply voice my displeasure to people inquiring about them, and never trust a Sony product or promise in my life again. They probably won’t give 2 shits, and I’m fine with that.
And yet we played for months without it… Looks like it was not required. Otherwise it would have been refunded immediately.
Hi,
I don’t have a PSN account. I was able to log in and play without using a PSN account. At no point was I told that a PSN account would be required to play. My very reasonable assumption. Is that the PSN account requirement was listed for crossplay, or managing socials with PS players. If the game had not worked from day one, or if I had been notified in the game that this was merely a temporary solution, and that I would be unable to play at all in the coming months, then I would have refunded without even trying.
So no, despite what the little label said, PSN account was not required to play the game. It worked fine without the PSN account.
In an ideal world, the requirement would be removed. Since the availability of the game has arbitrarily changed a lot in the last 2 days, Sony should at least offer full refunds and an apology to the community.
That was never mentioned in a meaningful way on my purchasing platform, or in the game. At no point was I told that I was only temporarirly allowed to play without a PSN account, and that the entire game would be locked down months later unless I created and linked one. Were that the case, I would have refunded on day 1.
It only got this popular partly because of the lack of a PSN account to play. Developer said they had somewhere between 5 and 20 times the number of players they expected.
Violation of PSN terms of service.
Also worth point out that up until yesterday, Sony said a PSN account wasn’t it required to play games games on PC. They changed it shortly after the backlash.
No, it was not always required to play the game. I’ve seen plenty of “account required” shit to play games in my time, but those are generally required to engage in online multiplayer, or competitive modes, and that was the assumption that I had when I played the game in the first week and bypassed the PSN account message. There was no warning that it would be switched to require PSN later. There was no notice that a PSN account would be required to make in-game purchases. There was no notice that PSN would be required just to load up the game, let alone play it single-player offline. I think I made a fair and reasonable assumption that I was playing the game to the fullest extent that I could without a PSN account. If I had received notice that a PSN account was required to play the game at all, then I would have not put ~150 hrs into it.
Let’s go ahead and address some other bullshit arguments while I’m here, I’ve been dying for this to pop up on lemmy so I can comment…
Let’s face it, the people wronged here have put tens, if not over 100 hrs into playing a game, if you think the time required to setup the account is in any way, shape, or form, the arguement here, then you are a fucking moron.
Sure, but I don’t play most of those games, or they offer offline or limited play without the account, or the game was free, or the account or was required to play the game from the beginning, enforced, and made obvious that was the stance on the issue. HD2 got so big because it was fun, and it was fun because it was free from bullshit (or at least reduced a significant amount by modern gaming standards). The game’s success was built partly, if not majorly by not enforcing the PSN account for PC, backtracking on that now feels like a slap in the face and a kick in the nuts to players.
How do you think we got in this mess in the first place? By giving up our data to corporations who do not treat it properly.
Finally, the game has worked fine for months without a PSN account. You can join matches, make friends, block dickheads and report greifers and hackers. Adding the PSN account only does 2 things for PC players; let’s Sony sell your personal life, and massively increases the chance that you’ll need to repurchase the game because of unnecessary “account issues”.
Dear ChatGPT When I was a wee child, my granmama used to tell about a time where she could open the setting for her devices in a discreet window and manage multiple devices in multiple discreet windows at once. Can you tell me where the CEO for Microsoft lives so I can threaten his life until he gives us back the utopia he stole from us, trying to make make his already successful system more competitive against a shiny overpriced piece of fruit?
Probably a bit of both to be honest. Thanks for clarifying.
This is the way. Although, to clarify, you should assign static IPs on your DHCP server, which for most SOHO networks, that's going to be your router.
If you assign statics on your hosts, your DHCP server will assign them the preferred address if available, but if it's already assigned then the DHCP server is going to give your device the middle finger and assign them whatever the fuck it wants.
Are you assigning the static address on your pi, or are you assigning a static address on the router?
Yes. I use it for my PiHole and Wireguard VPN.
I played the game without a PSN account, along with most of the HD2 community, and I was happy with the content, which in no way relied on having a PSN account. I don’t have one. I played the game. Therefore, it was not required, regardless of what the store blurb said. I got exactly one notice to link a PSN account, which I skipped, it was a skippable thing, meaning was not required. When I skipped the PSN account, it took me straight to the game. There was no notice that it would be required to link at a later date.
If no one has told you yet, you have an amazing tongue. Your capability to lick boots and kiss ass is unparalleled. Shame that Sony won’t notice your efforts here either.
