Planes may have all this technology but that only involves what’s happening in the air, not on the ground.

Now maybe all ground crew could have vehicles equipped with transponders and tracked as well, but there are also incidents of people randomly ending up on the runways / taxiways, or animals, or non airport vehicles.

Cachy has, at least in my experience with a Zen 5 processor, it’s own special Arch pacman repo with meta packages for various processor types. I believe for the most part mine uses Zen 4 packages.

Add your processor meta package and it adds the appropriate repo where packages have been custom built with feature flags / optimizations for that specific architecture of processors.

So it’s a little closer to Gentoo or LFS in those regards, without you having to actually build every package from scratch.

So while yes any distro could do this, in practice a lot don’t bother and only release basic i686/amd64/arm32/arm64 sets of packages. Whereas Cachy offers zen4-amd64 packages as an example, and I assume they offer various Intel architecture and other AMD architecture specific packages as well.

There’s a concerted effort across many dataholders (at least /r/dataholders for sure) to make a full site wide backup across at least 3 copies across volunteers machines before it shuts down.

Alongside the backup team, another team is working on the best way to distribute to others after that (magnet links, archive.org, etc.).

If I recall correctly compression, especially lz4, has been shown to impact performance negligably.

Is it beta now? I tried alpha 8 or alpha 9 and ran into a lot of issues (3 or 4 independent ones) with my multimonitor setup and eventually just gave up because of the frustration of having to reconfigure all 3 monitors every reboot.

Bazzite never had a problem, but locked down some dev stuff I wanted to do.

CachyOS has been solid but every once in a while I will experience one of the multi monitor issues I had on Cosmic Alpha. But I can live with that.

VAC bans are pretty nasty iirc.

Your account gets flagged for cheating and you can’t play on any official Valve servers for that particular game ever again.

Also if you family share the owner of the game gets the ban (don’t share with people you don’t trust).

Talking with cyclists it’s actually the opposite. It works in the sense that if someone is turning right they will get into the right lane and essentially self block a bicycle from pulling past them on the right side (if a cyclist did that they have a high likelyhood of getting hit as they are pulling into the cars blind spot… Then traffic starts moving and the right turning car just goes and suddenly there could be a bike there).

My friend and I played a bunch! Every hour or so we would have a desync and it would crash / close the game.

I also vaguely remember having to buy land. We would try to build across opposite ends if the map from each other.

You could set up deals like selling power to the other player. Water when connected would just flow so you could steal the other players water, or set up a monthly payment deal for nothing in return (but really water).

Huh. 2022 Terraria won labour of love. Stardew Valley has won other awards but not labour of love that I can see.

You know what’s fascinating about that?

I’m pretty sure that every CD had the entire game and all the art assets for every town / place you could enter on the world map. Every enemy. All the music.

The only difference between each CD was the FMV cutscenes contained on them.

At least that was the story / rumor at the time. For optimization they could have reduced the art assets and music to only areas you could enter at that point in the game, and only enemy models you would see, but supposedly that wasn’t the case.

While this is technically true, in practice I’ve found there’s always something the old PC is missing, tech wise.

Socket change. Ram version change. New version of PCIe.

Effectively you need to do mobo/cpu/ram all together.

The only other components are GPU and storage, which I agree are generally transferable, but depending on age you may want to upgrade too.

I guess PSU but that is thankfully something you almost never need to upgrade, unless your new GPU sucks down a lot more watts.

Maybe if I had an AM5 board I would be in a better state, but currently on AM4 so my upgrade paths are limited (already on a 5000 series chip).

When I built my home server this is what I did with all VMs. Learned how to change the start up delay time in esxi and ensured everything came back online with no issues from a cold built.
