You just know that if Elon wasn’t trying to rehabilitate his whole “free speech” image, he’d have blocked anything that could criticize his views, while allowing everything that could criticize his opponents.

I was happy when they used an entirely on-device AI to generate alt text for photos, but this is just ridiculous. They quite literally already have an extension that does the exact same thing this new “feature” offers.
Firefox was supposed to be a less bloated than chrome, but all they’ve done now is continued to add more and more to the browser that nobody actually asked for.
Give me bug fixes, UX and performance improvements, not entire sidebar popups for review checking that only works on 3 stores on the entire internet.
Unfortunately, that man (Dan Price) ended up being charged with assault later down the road, which I’ve seen used as an “argument” against the pay cut as just “well he’s a bad person, so obviously that’s a bad idea too.”
I recall it being brought up on an old Fox News clip from an interview they’d done with someone a few years back, but I can’t seem to find it anymore. Could also just be my memory being a bit hazy though.
Regardless, who could have guessed that paying your workers a fair cut of their labor’s value would make them capable of supporting themselves in a capitalist society? /s

And when traditional AI programs can be run on much lower end hardware with the same speed and quality, those chips will have no use. (Spoiler alert, it’s happening right now.)
Corporations, for some reason, can’t fathom why people wouldn’t want to pay hundreds of dollars more just for a chip that can run AI models they won’t need most of the time.
If I want to use an AI model, I will, but if you keep developing shitty features that nobody wants using it, just because “AI = new & innovative,” then I have no incentive to use it. LLMs are useful to me sometimes, but an LLM that tries to summarize the activity on my computer isn’t that useful to me, so I’m not going to pay extra for a chip that I won’t even use for that purpose.
I love this approach, balances user freedom & privacy with moderation & voting pattern analysis by the public.
ActivityPub might mean some data is slightly less private, but that doesn’t mean it has to be.
