I'm looking for a new UPS to replace an almost 10 years old APC beast that's having issues, but I'm not sure what to buy.
I'll be using it to power a small home server and some network equipment in an area where there are occasional power outages (but they last 2-3 hours). My requirements are:
- 300-600€ range
- At least 1500VA, 900W
- Doesn't make noise unless it's on battery
- Must not require proprietary software to monitor it or to calibrate the battery and other basic stuff (if it works with apcupsd or NUT it would be perfect)
- No weird battery format
What would you recommend?
Thanks!
Doesn't meet your power requirements (only up to 850VA) but i recommend Cyberpower Bric meets the rest. I have mine connected to my Proxmox host, usb passthrough to VM running HassOS with the NUT add-on. Neat little LCD and silent unless humming on battery. Can choose if you want an audible alarm enabled or put it on mute.
APC is still very well regarded UPS brand for small business, and your specs seems like they should be achievable across many leading brands. Have you looked into latest models for your spec?
Maybe share a list of candidates you're considering and can get opinions on those?
I don't know how it is with monitoring but apc is a pos with their softwares.
One day they want PowerChute Business Edition then Serial Shutdown while eoling the old completely same UI software.
It's like they need the Business Edition 2.0 but are too bone headed to increase the version counter
