What’s the difference between a home insurance crisis in Florida and building in a place where homes get destroyed over and over again and building there is a terrible idea long term? Insurance is to offset risks, if the risk is guaranteed to happen it’s not the insurers fault they won’t cover it for cheaper than it’ll be expected to cost them even if it was a nonprofit insurer which I’m guessing most aren’t. The best approach would be using state taxes to help residents relocate to less disaster prone areas instead of rebuilding the same destroyed places until nobody can afford to anymore.
