I did look it up, the last three MCU films were 60 days exactly, and the one before that was 67 days. So the trend was getting shorter, but seems to have stopped at 60 days.
The non Spider-Man Spider-Man films had shorter windows, and I guess technically they’re Sony films, but they just seem so different it doesn’t feel like it counts.
It sounds like industry jargon. Maybe that is the contractual obligation of how long the must keep the film in theaters. The post is mostly about the film not coming out on IMAX in its first weeks.
I think because there have been some studios or films that are pulled much more quickly for streaming platforms, so they are wanting to give it a minimum time to be in theaters rather than push it out.
I looked up the last 3 MCU films, they all released to digital exactly 60 days after their theatrical release. So I guess the number has been decreasing.
The last two “Spider-Man but no Spider-Man” movies released by Sony were less than 60 days, but films like that I wouldn’t expect to succeed with an exclusivity.
It’s just weird to see “CONFIRMED: WE DO WHAT WE ALREADY DO”.
The same is true for any Marvel film.
What am I missing?
Is that really true for all Marvel films? 2021 is a long time ago. And maybe its more of a Sony thing recently to do shorter cinema runs? But idk

Interesting that the article contrasts it with Universal Pictures’ release windows.

Non-news as an ‘exclusive’

At least that’s what I gather.

This one will only take 60 days. 😌
