M6 x 1.0 stainless steel cap nuts aka acorn nuts were $2.39 each at Ace and I need 14. They had 3 in stock. Would have been about $36.00 with tax.

Went to Amazon and got a 50 pack for $5.39 with 4.7 out of 5 star reviews and free shipping.

The prices on specialty hardware are ridiculous. I hate Amazon, but that’s my go to, and I just keep a wide variety on hand at all times. Aliexpress is great also, or at last it was before the tariffs.

I can see that. I would love to buy certain things locally, but even if I can find them (that’s a big If), they’re overpriced (see the post text). So yes, begrudgingly, it’s cheaper and easier (and uses less gas, wear and tear on my car, and saves me a boatload of time) to buy from Amazon.

It is entirely possible to hate something, but still need it/use it.

yeah I will use amazon if I have exhausted all other options only. as in I have been unable to find the thing I need literally anywhere else. ebay can still be good, but you’ll wait a long time for shipping typically.

I think ive had to relent twice a year since I swore them off in 2015 or so

Thing is though a lot of times I can only find bulk versions online. Feels wasteful to get 50 of something when I only need 2 and am never going to need them again.
