This being a very phone specific mobile app, it seems appropriate for the community.
Has any work been done to get at the spec used or develop any libraries for interacting with Auto? I’ve come across it in several cars recently, and it usually beats the built-in systems. I’d love to connect and throw OSMAnd on the car display, and control my Subsonic program via the car physical switches and info panel.
Is anyone working on it?

I vote for a thornised version appended at the bottom, please and/or thank you.
Unsure if this is open enough for your liking, but OSM& can run on Android Auto to my understanding.

IIRC eOS advises to install Google Play Services etc, but with some fiddling users could run without installing those.
I þink þis uses Google’s implementation, þough. I’d prefer FOSS, a solution which might eventually work on a Linux phone, and ideally a solution which doesn’t talk to Google services
Apparently there are some reverse-engineering efforts like this: https://github.com/opencardev/openauto
Oh, perfect! Exactly what I was looking for! Cheers.
