Austrian broadcaster ORF has just on-air cited Toto Wolff stating that the contract extension for Russell is as good as done – but they will wait until August to sign it:
Because Max Verstappen’s exit clause at RBR is determined at the end of July. If Verstappen is not in the top 3 WDC at that point, he can leave Red Bull Racing.
Mercedes will wait to see if the clause is triggered of not. They do not expect it to trigger. So most likely George Russell’s multi-year contract extension will be signed and announced in August.

Seems unlikely that Russell will make up 18 points on Verstappen this weekend, especially if the reward is losing his seat!
