Traditionally both parties had to agree to get divorced if there had not been some “grounds” for the divorce that could be proved in court. That’s why the classic business for old timey private detectives was proving that their client’s spouse was committing adultery in order to legally justify a divorce.
Yeah I actually came across this statistic in this article about those guys wanting to make divorce much harder, which linked to the study: https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/05/no-fault-divorce-gop-republicans-mainstream-podcast-dudes/
Pretty lame, basically just giving lifetime achievement awards to a bunch of beloved elderly actors rather than basing the awards on the shows and performances in question.
Kbin is still a thing? Or I guess not…
This will cause me to torrent the Amazon shows I want to watch even though I’ll likely still have access to an Amazon account to watch them on.
It came out yesterday. You are probably looking at the date on the screenshot of an article that it starts with rather than the date of this article at the top.
I assumed the piracy sub would be a safe space for this sort of thing
I like it, seems like a good way to get to critical mass on the small subs here. Can’t really offer any help, but good luck and thanks!
Yeah all of these are in theory in this “microblogging” genre of apps.
It creates that “one big chatroom” vibe from old twitter, while Mastodon feels like a bunch of people microblogging next to each other
Yeah you are spot on, the big problem with Mastodon is that they have all these ideas about how to be better than twitter that actually just break what people are looking for from the twitter experience.
In reality it’s just a factor of the difference between a comedic cartoon and live action, but I sort of love the idea of it being an actual cultural difference between the two timelines, with people in the even more utopian lower decks era having gotten looser and wackier.
Maybe society just keeps getting less formal over time and by then “Hi” is one of the more formal ways to greet someone, as opposed to just “sup” or [suggestive eyebrow movement]
Me and @YoBuckStopsHere
I felt like they were trying to show Captain Pike as going a little far when beating up Zac, but I thought he was being totally reasonable given the situation of “this guy knows how to keep your memories and you really really need to force him to hand that information over.” There was no way for him to know all he had to do was wait around in the palace for a little while.
Trying to avoid particular pieces of information is a tough problem for a federated network to solve.
Haha I kept worrying that my cats and baby would be disturbed by it but fortunately they didn’t seem to react much.
I think it makes sense that a brief bout of amnesia like that could be revealing of your underlying traits and feelings, but that in the normal course of things it’s very important to have your memories.
I agree large instances have a bigger voice proportional to their larger size, but I don’t think that’s really an issue as long as there are plenty of instance options and no single one is so powerful it can force the system to conform to it rather than conforming itself to the system.
And that’s why Jamie Foxx is cooler than Will Smith
