Balance of Terror?

I think so, I consider myself a ST fan, have watched almost everything two exceptions, one is Discovery I dropped on season 2-3 don’t remember exactly that was not fun to watch, and TOS I tried to watch it, but I can’t stand it, it’s too old for me, so I know nothing of Balance of Terror, yeah, I know there are some Romulans and it’s supposed to be the invisible ship, nothing else.

In the other threads someone suggested that the Vulcan Cadet that left Starfleet is a Romulan spy. I am all in at this moment, it could be a great AHA! moment in the future.

About Sybok, again, no TOS background here, but the story about Captain Angel, and how they trick Pike was so great… and never had a payback or a conclusion that is a shame.

I was hoping to see in the final episode the outcome of the “invisible ship” and if the theory about the Vulcan Cadet was true, so it was dissappointing to see the episode went to a different story. Also the story was a bit boring, only interesting bits were when Uhura ask Spock and Scotty to do something, in order to get it 1 year later. Not very original, but was fun.

One season to go, for the moment my biggest regret with the show is that we are never gonna see Captain Angel from S1 comeback, and I think never will (only half season left…). One of finest evil characters ever seen on ST

Another of these silly episodes, at least this one was good. There’s not much I can say, I’m sure the kiss in the werewolf cottage is gonna cause some discussion about sexual orientations on some of the characters.

Seeing Hemmer in the previouslys primed me to expect to see Caster show up, but nope.

while Ramsey in “Crimson Tide” is merely hawkish and reckless.

I have to disagree, Ramsey (Gene Hackman) in “Crimson Tide” gives during all the confrontation scenes a very good arguments about why they have to launch, for me as good as Denzel Washington character ones. He is hawkish and violent, but even at the end he says, let’s sit down and see who is right. He was acting on good conscience even if his position was brutal and could cause a World War. That’s why his character is so good, because his motivations were right.

Here the Admiral is never right, he is just looking for revenge, even if he denies it, until is drugged. That’s why the episode pales in comparison, because there is someone who is right and someone who is not. Yeah, we still maybe have to see that mysterious cloacking ship again, and then maybe someone, Kirk, can feel some remorse, but I don’t think so. He did the right thing, everybody knows

I enter the discussion post after watching the episode, did a Ctrl+F to Crimson Tide and I see I’m not the only one thinking about it.

As soon in the episode as the Admiral says, “Here there is only one voice, mine” or something like that I knew they were ripping off the plot of Crimson Tide, and I was not wrong.

Una’s fondness for rules is why the crew nicknamed her “Where Fun Goes to Die” (SNW: “Spock Amok”).

Uhura interrogation scene was bad. Also when they say, oh, here are your papers, you can leave… As someone else mentioned, there is no point of having the parts on the Enterprise in B/W, that part was ok, but why La’an as chief security have not checked the transporter logs. She thought something has been tampered on the transport, check the logs!

The away team story was not bad, the homage to Casablanca was bad, with the klingons singing in the bar… the rest was ok, they dont want to interfere, but they did somehow.

Edit: forgot to say that the theme of the episode os follow the orders/rules or not. In both cases they choose to not follow them, and the takeaway you have from that is dangerous, because im both cases they have a good outcome

Only thing I enjoyed of the episode is that Ortega and Scotty didn’t have any romantic involvement, and at the end it’s only a friendship thing.

Jokes were not funny, and when the peace negotiations are going down the tube, then a random thing happens and all is good and everybody are friends. Make Pike fail the peace treaty, he is stoned, sober him up and somehow make him fix it. Will be a better thing that a explosion is now a peace sign or whatever.

About the episode, I have the feeling I have seen it already, the ghost ship, the mind tricks, no explanation, nothing new, too predictable.

It feels like an excuse to evolve the relation between some characters, but we are not seeing that evolution on this episode, but I’m guessing the things that happened here are gonna be relevant later.
