I think a surefire way to help with this would be to have a rule that any instance that becomes the largest one on Lemmy should lock itself instantly. That way, we’ll only surpass the current max number of users on a single instance until it’s completely spread out
Nomadic identity is so cool! That’s the one big thing ATProto has over ActivityHub atm (at least partially0, and hopefully platforms like Piefed will also follow suit on implementing it.
I think you should make a thread on the community to really get your message across
I’ve heard people mention Wafrn as a Tumblr alternative, but haven’t checked it out myself.
The customer service rep in the balaclava was the cherry on top
!sillydrawingrequests@sopuli.xyz is one of my favourites so far
Oh yes, I quite enjoy Concept. To me, Codenames, Concept and Haiclue all have that fundamental ‘make a clue with extremely limited options and get people to guess them’ framework, they just differ in how they implement those limitations (one word for Codenames, limited word pool for Haiclue, and conceptually building the clue for Concept)
So do we know if he’s tried Civilisation and sucked at it, or is that just my headcanon?
This is the video that led me to actually start taking a hard look at social media (I was already off of Instagram, but that was almost unconscious in that I just started loathing the app), and led me down the rabbit hole that eventually led me to Lemmy!
We should create a stickied thread on fedigrow or communitypromo for at least the foreseeable future, so we don’t have to depend on something like this.
Thanks!
No Dramione? 🤨
Even if it’s just links, taking the time to find them yourself and post them is a useful step, since relevant doesn’t always mean insightful or interesting.
Also, you’re not completely tied to links. Make/ask for recommendations, life pro tips, etc.
Fair, but it was also in case someone else shared the lack of knowledge of the rules, but not the lack of interest.
Every round, there are four shared words, from which one will be assigned to you. The point of the game is to assemble a clue that will make the other players pick that particular word out of the four. I said assemble and not write because there is a limited pool of 15 word cards that you have to arrange at least two of to form a clue. Pictured above is the clue I would personally give if the word were picnic (though in this screenshot the assigned word is net).
The clue therefore ends up, in practice, quite interestingly phrased at times, which is why the game is called that (Haiku + clue). You get points each time someone guesses your word correctly, and each time you guess someone’s word correctly.
This is such a well written piece, it’s closer to a serious article than a blogpost
It’s a type of short form poetry originating in Japanese, which consists of three lines, of 5, 7, 5 syllables each.
For example:
in dark autumn nights / dew and the new bamboo shoots / reaching out to moon
Anyone who’d like to explore haiku (through writing or reading) is welcome in the community
I was right there as well. I saw creators I trust putting out stuff talking about the state of social media today (Technology Connections on YouTube in particular) and that was around when I started diving back into bluesky, then after a little more reading around, mastodon and lemmy. Never looked back after that.
Honey Heist is my fav out of them, though the one with gay orcs is something I’ve wanted to run for a while
