It’s not just poorly written, it’s poorly cast, directed, shot, and edited.

Continuity between shots is abysmal, rapid cut away for a second or two meaning no gravity is given to anything, action scenes completely unplanned to the point nothing seems to connect and no one seems to be aiming the right directions (spatial continuity), Kevin Hart cast as the straight guy, reshoots to remove an R rating with actors aging and from scene to scene, dialogue quips dubbed in, a plot lacking character narrative and development, actors looking bored and likely given no direction or motivation to connect with their character, quotes from the games the actors have no context for and deliver boringly, opening with dull narration, dull narration in the middle, dull narration at the end…

I could go on. Crap writing can be saved if the thing is decent to look at (e.g. the Avatar series) or cut well (e.g. Quantum of Solace) but Borderlands had nothing redeeming about it.

It’s what happens when someone with underdeveloped empathy gets caught doing something they know is wrong, resulting in emotional overload.

With stunted empathy, people seeking an explanation and apology are met with increasingly greater resistance.

And like textbook, they claim to be the victim. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are lying about receiving death threats.

What’s crazy is they could have simply:

• Apologised
• Explained the intent to reduce toxicity
• Agreed there was a lack of transparency
• Refactored their existing “enable toxicity mode” feature into a clearer, toggleable blocklist feature

But no. They were caught while they were secretly trying to play internet dictator and refused to empathise with others that were hurt and shocked to find out a tool they were using was receiving undisclosed payloads to use to censor communities and individuals.

I strongly implore everyone to leave this developer alone. Jokingly asking to be added to the list etc empowers them to continue to play the victim. They do not deserve attention.

It absolutely is a feature of being a beginner but it is not an issue; it is not a bug.

Any skill takes hundreds if not thousands of hours of practice to become adept, and tens of thousands to reach mastery.

Whoever downvoted you probably doesn’t understand what you’re saying. This package doesn’t stipulate as to what regulations, frameworks, standards etc it is checking compliance against.

If it doesn’t say what it’s checking it’s compliant against, how can it determine if you’re compliant to it or not?

ISO 27001? SOC2? CIS Benchmarks? HIPAA? GDPR? NIST CSF? 800-53? PCI DSS? Cyber Essentials? Vendor guidance?

This seems, at best, some general security checks but not mapped to any framework in particular.

The Linux Security Audit Project is far more mature in this regard and maps checks to specific frameworks.

Very reasonable, in my opinion. PRs for features that will go unmaintained, have unexpected side effects due to AI not being capable of comprehending the entire codebase, or be able to guarantee their code isn’t ripped from a non-MIT licensed source, is a recipe for future disaster.

Better to put up reasonable barriers to entry so that committed community members can still get involved (who could possibly become the future maintainers of the project) while denying risky, low value contributions from statistical models trained on goodness knows what.
